The story drapes itself in local myth alongside colonial tension, with references to Varahi and the shadowy, ancient magic that haunts the manor. The period culminates in the arrival of Portuguese troops, signaling a broader colonial storm encroaching on the land.

Set in 17th-century Malabar on the Kerala coast, the story centers on a secluded mana (mansion) hidden in the woods. The estate houses a lineage of sorcery connected to the goddess Varahi and a cursed chathan imprisoned in an attic. The setting blends rural coastal India with looming Portuguese presence, creating a claustrophobic, folklore-laden backdrop.

A central force in Bramayugam is the magical legacy of the chathan and the goblin-kingdom tied to Chudala Potti. The mana houses both protection and menace, showing how power can corrupt and imprison. Supernatural forces clash with human hunger for control, driving fear and ritual destruction.

The mansion conceals a tangle of disguises—the Potti who is not the real Potti, the illicit son wearing the ring’s power, and the trap that binds Thevan. Memory loss and possession force a crisis of identity for Thevan as he questions who he truly is and who controls his body.
