Tourist Family

Following the economic crisis in Sri Lanka, Das, his wife Vasanthi, and their two sons, Nithu and Mulli, escape their homeland via Valvettithurai. They seek refuge in India with the help of Vasanthi's brother, Prakash, crossing into Rameswaram. Their journey marks the beginning of their attempt to start anew in a different country.

Upon entering India, the family is apprehended by police constables led by A. Bhairavan but is released after their innocence is ascertained. Nithu and Mulli appeal to Bhairavan’s compassion by showing him a found puppy, persuading him to show kindness. This encounter sets a tone of cautious trust between them and the authorities.

The family, with Prakash, hires a taxi and moves to Kesava Nagar Colony in Chennai to hide their true identities. They pretend to be Malayalis, passing themselves off as local residents to avoid suspicion from authorities. Das quickly finds work as a driver, trying to build a stable life.

Despite warnings to keep a low profile, Das and Vasanthi grow closer to their neighbors, forging bonds with elderly Mangaiyarkarasi and her husband Gunasekar. Vasanthi befriends these neighbors, which helps them feel a sense of community and reduces their fears of exposure.

While the family is in Chennai, a bomb blast occurs in Rameswaram. ACP Balwan Singh takes charge of the case, focusing on uncovering the culprits behind the explosion. The police retrieve CCTV footage of Das disposing of waste near the blast site, suspecting his involvement.

During police interrogation, Balwan Singh severely beats a suspect, risking his own department’s punishment. Bhairavan intervenes to protect Das’s family from being directly associated with the blast, effectively shielding them from suspicion while the investigation intensifies.

Raghavan’s daughter Kural, in a relationship with a boyfriend, learns of his infidelity after Nithu mistakenly arrests him thinking he is a thief. The revelation leads to a confrontation, and Kural confronts her father about their family’s displacement and their reasons for fleeing Sri Lanka.

Nithu is upset after discovering his girlfriend has married someone else, but his family supports him and helps him cope. Meanwhile, Das clarifies that he discarded the puppy, causing a fight with Nithu, but they eventually reconcile and improve their communication, strengthening their family bond.

Mangaiyarkarasi dies suddenly from shock after her husband's death is revealed, prompting the neighborhood to come together for her last rites. The community begins to see Das and his family in a new light, recognizing their kindness and resilience amidst the tragedy.

A troubled youth, after being saved by Das from poisoning, shares his emotional story during Mangaiyarkarasi’s funeral, expressing gratitude and vowing to reform. The neighborhood, witnessing Das’s genuine concern, begins to support and trust the family more openly.

Balwan and Bhairavan conduct a house-to-house search for Das’s family. When they reach Das's house, Bhairavan falsely claims they are not the same family from Rameswaram, trying to hide their true identity. The neighborhood’s communal effort to speak in Tamil dialect aids in protecting Das’s family.

After the family’s true identity is hidden by the neighborhood’s support, the police leave disgruntled due to a suspect’s death and the failure to apprehend them. Bhairavan, witnessing the community’s solidarity and kindness, develops a newfound respect for Das and his family.
