Earth is attacked by aliens on October 6, 2022. Captain Michael Raynor faces the loss of his wife as his military space station is destroyed, and he escapes just before the facility falls. The invasion triggers humanity's desperate defense.

A wormhole appears and sends Raynor thirty years into the past. He exits the ordeal on a timeline that lands him back on Earth in 1992, with his mission abruptly altered.

Raynor crash-lands on Earth and must hide as he tries to understand his new surroundings. He struggles to gain a footing in a world that no longer remembers him or his mission.

Two scientists discover Raynor's escape pod and ISC operatives seize custody of the unit. The scientists analyze its components and deduce the pod is from the future, noting a non-existent Indiana electronics company on the parts.

Raynor tries to escape the ISC and makes contact with the scientists to explain his origins. They decide to locate Senator John Neila and warn him about the looming invasion.

The scientists recover the flight recorder data and destroy the escape pod to prevent further interference. The data confirms the future-origin threat and pushes them to act against the alien plot.

Raynor learns that Senator Neila and ISC operatives are aliens planted years earlier as sleeper agents. Karen Donaldson is also revealed to be an alien, and she hands over the flight recorder to Neila’s faction.

Raynor experiences visions of his pregnant mother being killed by an assassin. Knowing he is due to be born, he races to save her while the conspirators attempt to ensure the tragedy occurs.

In the future, aliens strike a secret base on Capitol Hill and humans rush to launch a nuclear counterstrike. Neila, now Earth's President, negotiates with the aliens but uses deception to secure their victory by disarming the human defenders.

Raynor defeats the assassin and convinces his mother to flee with him. She goes into labor during the escape, and the baby is delivered en route. The mother dies shortly after, and Karen Donaldson brings the newborn to Neila.

Having a change of heart, Karen Donaldson protects the child from Neila. She and Arnie work to shield the infant Raynor from the candidate’s malevolent plans.

In a last-ditch confrontation at a tall construction plant, Raynor pushes Neila to his death and Arnie kills Freeman. With Neila dead in 1992, the future Neila disappears from existence, and the adult Raynor screams in pain as the timeline dissipates, leaving Karen and Arnie with the baby Raynor.
