Thiruchitrambalam

Pazham, the food-delivery driver whose full name is Thiruchitrambalam, is played by Dhanush. He shares a roof with his strict father, Prakash Raj in the role of Inspector Neelakandan, and his paternal grandfather, also named Thiruchitrambalam, portrayed by Bharathiraja. A tragedy shadows his family life: his mother, portrayed by Revathi, and his sister die in an accident that’s tied to his father’s negligence. This loss hardens Pazham’s relationship with his dad, and he withdraws emotionally, choosing silence over conversation even though they remain under the same roof. His only steady light is his childhood friend, Nithya Menen as Shobana, who offers him a steady, nonjudgmental connection in a world that often feels unfair and confusing.

Ranjani’s presence offers a fresh spark, and once again Shobana helps arrange a meeting, but a moment of embarrassment follows when Pazham asks for her phone number and Ranjani says they are strangers with no reason to connect. On the drive home, the elder Thiruchitrambalam Sr. challenges Pazham to rethink his growing attachment to Shobana, leaving Pazham unsettled about where his heart truly lies.

Back in his routine life, Pazham begins to see Shobana through new eyes. He confesses that his feelings have shifted, but Shobana deeply values their friendship and rejects a romantic pivot, creating a strain that makes them distant for a time. When Shobana announces she’ll travel to Canada for work, Pazham fields the ache of imminent separation and resolves to meet her at the airport. But fate intervenes: on the way, Pazham’s vehicle is stopped by the police, and Shobana boards her flight, leaving him with a painful sense of what might have been.

A revelation follows. Pazham learns from Shobana’s brother that she has loved him since their sixth-grade days, and that she has cherished letters and gifts from him over the years. Her decision to avoid a rebound relationship had been rooted in his own earlier doubts and neglect, not in a lack of feeling. A month passes, and Pazham reaches out; Shobana reveals she hates Canada and wants to return to India. In a bold, emotional moment, Pazham asks her to turn around, and she appears—drawn by his apology and his renewed attentiveness.
