Manikyan and Karthumpi start with fierce arguments, but over time they fall in love. Sreekrishnan treats Manikyan like a brother, while Appakkala resents the growing tension between them.

After returning from a fair, Sreekrishnan spots Karthumpi and is instantly drawn to her, fueling a confrontation. The trio flees the scene: Sreekrishnan runs away, while Manikyan escorts Karthumpi, taking her with him.

That night, Manikyan loses his way while traveling with Karthumpi as she pretends not to know the return path. He struggles to navigate the unfamiliar terrain, while she plays along, enjoying the misdirection.

Manikyan utters crude words and intrudes on a shop owner and a married couple, drawing severe consequences. He is tied to a tree as punishment but is released after he apologizes.

Karthumpi reveals she is homeless and shares that her sister was murdered by a policeman, Mallikettu, who is also her brother-in-law. This revelation deepens their bond as they reveal vulnerabilities.

Back in Manikyan's village, Sreekrishnan proposes to Karthumpi, planning marriage, while Manikyan is torn due to their brotherly bond and love.

Karthumpi opposes the marriage proposal, and Sreekrishnan becomes furious upon learning of Manikyan's feelings, sparking tension. Mallikettu arrives on the scene and attacks Sreekrishnan.

Manikyan steps in to protect Sreekrishnan during the confrontation, leading to a duel with the policeman Mallikettu. He defeats the policeman and warns him of consequences if he continues.

Appakkala spreads lies that Manikyan murdered Sreekrishnan by finding his flip-flop and towel in a pond, turning the townspeople against him. The rumor starts to poison the village’s judgment.

Kannayan slaps Manikyan, and Yeshodhamma cries after believing the rumor. Manikyan himself bursts into tears and pleads his innocence, trying to salvage his reputation.

The next morning Manikyan decides to leave the area, with Karthumpi accompanying him out of sympathy and loyalty. Their bond is tested as they head into uncertain times.

Manikyan encounters Appakkala and they fight; the townspeople chase Manikyan and Karthumpi through woods, across water, and along a dusty road, driving the couple toward exhaustion.

Sreekrishnan arrives, and the truth about Appakkala’s deceit becomes clear to the townspeople. Appakkala is publicly punished by making him do sit-ups in front of everyone.

Sreekrishnan realizes his mistakes and marries the woman who loved him for a long time, while also reconciling with Manikyan as he unites with Karthumpi. The trio’s bond is finally resolved into a lasting union.
