Indu Malhotra, Amrita Singh, is a powerful, wealthy factory owner and college trustee who enrolls her daughter Kajal, Divya Bharti, into the same college attended by the hardworking Yogi Joshi and the devoted Pooja Malhotra, a student raised by a single father. Pooja, though friendly and spirited, has her own firm sense of independence and pride, setting the stage for a clash of worlds between Indu’s luxury and Kajal’s new college environment.

Yogi Joshi, Kamal Sadanah, is a diligent, middle-class student who quickly becomes entangled in the unfolding drama surrounding Kajal’s arrival. He and Pooja Malhotra, Ayesha Julka, form the core group at the college, navigating friendships, rivalries, and the pressures of status. Pooja is resolute about her space, and a growing tension over parking spots, cars, and pride mirrors the larger social divide at play.

The spark between Kajal and Yogi ignites after a dramatic confrontation: Kajal’s car rams through the college corridors, and Pooja cuts her off in a heated moment. Yogi chases after Kajal as her jeep plunges toward danger, and he rescues the unconscious Kajal from a cliffside fall, bringing her home. Indu’s snobbish mother, Suchitra, Bindu Desai, offends Yogi by offering him money, a moment that underscores the clash between two generations and classes.

That night, Kajal and Yogi dream of each other and fall in love. The next day, Kajal asks to be friends, but Yogi points out the gap in their backgrounds—she has a car and he does not. Undeterred, Kajal refuses to let him date her until he agrees. When he finally agrees, they go to see the film Bobby, and their romance begins to bloom as they imagine themselves in its famous moments. Soon they spend more time together, and their feelings deepen, much to Suchitra’s fury when she discovers them together.

On Rose Day, a misread moment fans the flames of misunderstanding. Kajal contemplates what to wear and arrives late, while Pooja sees Yogi with a rose and assumes it’s meant for her, stealing the moment and misinterpreting the signal. At the same time, Yogi’s father acts as a union leader, and the couple’s future becomes entangled with a wider conflict: Indu fires Mr. Joshi, and Ajay Malhotra, Jeetendra, steps in as a powerful ally to the Joshi family and a father figure to Pooja.

When Ajay learns of Pooja’s affection for Yogi, he approaches the Joshi family with a proposal to marry Pooja to Yogi. The revelation that Kajal and Pooja are connected by more than friendship deepens the crisis: Yogi tells his parents he loves Kajal, prompting a painful rift. Pooja, overwhelmed and heartbroken, fights back with a desperate decision. Ajay pleads with Kajal to end the romance to protect Pooja, but Kajal cannot bear to sacrifice her love.

Seeking answers, Kajal turns to Madhav Singh, Kader Khan, her grandfather, who reveals a hidden truth: Ajay Malhotra is Kajal’s father, and the tale of their family has been shaped by a history of workers’ rights, struggle, and a contested alliance with Suchitra’s objections. With this new understanding, Kajal contemplates a painful sacrifice: she considers moving to America to spare her sister’s life, choosing duty over love.

Madhav Singh confronts Ajay and urges him to support Kajal. Ajay acts quickly to protect Kajal, moving her into her own apartment and keeping his relationship with Kajal a secret from Pooja while he works to mend the broken ties. The lovers are ultimately able to reunite, but the truth about their family complicates matters further. Meanwhile, Pooja discovers that Kajal is her younger sister, an even more wrenching revelation that forces everyone to reassess loyalties and responsibilities.

As the truth comes to light, Suchitra believes Kajal has fled and has Yogi arrested for kidnapping. Ajay steps forward to confess that he has Kajal, and the police release Yogi, unable to charge him for taking care of his daughter or for protecting Kajal. Indu, shaken by the unraveling of her family, is torn between old loyalties and the chance for reconciliation. Ajay invites Indu to their daughter’s wedding, a symbolic gesture that opens a path to healing.

Pooja, moved by the possibility of a reconciled family, visits her estranged mother and urges a renewal of their relationship. Indu realizes that she has not stopped thinking about her elder daughter and begins to seek a fresh start. Madhav Singh finally stands up to Suchitra, and she softens enough to attend Kajal’s wedding. The family comes together at last, as Kajal and Yogi’s union is celebrated, symbolizing a new chapter that blends love with duty, unity with forgiveness, and the hope of togetherness for Indu, Ajay, Pooja, and the entire family.
