In the village of Thenkasi Pattinam, two market owners, Kannan and Dassan, carve out a rough reputation under the shadow of a ruthless godfather. Their world begins to shift when Dassan’s sister Devootty — an educated, ambitious young woman — longs to tame their wayward behavior and steer them toward a more respectable path. The scene is complicated when a new figure, Shathru alias Shatrugnan, enters as the manager of KD & Co. He is repeatedly humiliated by the brothers, yet his feelings for Devootty burn quietly beneath the surface. The conflict between loyalty and love soon becomes the engine of the plot.

Shathru hides a deeper motive as he settles into his role: he hopes to win Devootty’s heart and, with it, the blessing of her brothers. To curry favor and secure his place, he stays close to the family business, outwardly devoted and inwardly calculating. Devootty, sharp and perceptive, isn’t easily swayed, and she probes his intentions. When she learns that his interest in KD & Co. goes beyond mere affection, she remains cautious, insisting that any marriage would first require the brothers’ consent and a stable family life.

Meanwhile, the social dynamics begin to tilt toward marriage as Shathru resolves to arrange brides for Dasan and Kannan. Into this mix steps Meenakshi, Meenakshi — Kannan’s childhood friend and the daughter of their rival family. Meenakshi has her own resolve to prove her love, but her path is not simple: she is the enemy’s daughter, and Kannan’s heart does not immediately respond, knowing that Dasan might not accept such a match. The tension between personal desire and communal alliances adds a charged undercurrent to every conversation and decision.

A key turn comes when a music troupe passes through the village. KD & Co. seize the moment to exert control, even holding the troupe hostage, which forces the main singer, Sangeetha, to leave her home in disgrace. With Devootty’s insistence, Sangeetha finds shelter with the brothers’ household, and Shathru contemplates using this situation to his advantage by trying to unite Sangeetha with Dasan. The plan threads through the looming wedding as Kannan seeks Dasan’s blessing to marry Meenakshi, but a misunderstanding quickly arises.

Dasan, feeling the sting of his own pride and sensing the tension in the air, misreads the situation and believes that Meenakshi would be his bride, not Kannan’s. In parallel, Sangeetha is revealed to be in love with Kannan, further entangling the feelings of the central characters. The household moves forward with the wedding preparations, bringing Meenakshi to the family home and setting the stage for a dramatic reckoning.

As the truth begins to surface, Shathru recognizes his mistake and tries to pivot, hoping to swap the brides to suit everyone’s interests. When the truth breaks through, Dasan, who is sincerely in love with Meenakshi, forces her into a marriage with him, unleashing a brutal confrontation where Dasan beats Kannan. Devootty intervenes, attempting to stop the fallout, but her efforts only fuel the immediate crisis. In a pivotal moment, Kannan fights back, and Dasan falls.

In the wake of the clash, Kannan makes a powerful, selfless choice: he declares he is willing to give up his own happiness for the sake of his friendship with Dasan. This act shifts the balance, and Dasan’s heart softens; he ultimately changes his stance, allowing Kannan and Meenakshi to unite. The film closes on a note of reconciliation, with Sangeetha ready to marry Dasan and the two couples stepping into a new chapter with renewed trust and mutual respect.
