In 2015, in the fictional city of Xuanyu, a shadowy crisis tightens its grip on the city: a string of child disappearances shocks the community and fragments any sense of safety. The narrative centers on a diligent police officer whose daughter is among the victims, a person who carries grief as a quiet burden and still presses for answers. One night, a mysterious man drives by and phones in a claim that he knows where the officer’s daughter might be. The moment seems like a ray of possibility, but fate intervenes in a brutal, chaotic way: a truck crashes into the man’s car, leaving him severely injured and suffering from amnesia. The man’s claimed identity, Yang, rests on a fake-looking identity card that the police dismiss as a counterfeit try at misdirection, yet the situation is far from simple.

At the hospital, danger resurfaces with shocking immediacy. An assassin slips into Yang’s room and murders the guards, aiming to silence him for good. Yang fights back in a tense exchange of force and wits, and the encounter ends with him killing the assailant in what begins to look like self-defense. This violent interruption deepens the mystery surrounding Yang’s past and his true allegiance. A police officer named Lu makes a push to collar Yang, but the fugitive escapes, slipping into the city’s underbelly with the barest essentials and enough money to sustain himself—food, clothes, and a hotel room—before he can piece together the fragments of his erased history. As the clues begin to cohere, Lin—the officer whose personal loss fuels her relentless pursuit—discovers that Yang is not simply a man with amnesia but someone who might hold the key to locating her daughter. Despite orders to recuse herself from the case, Lin resolves to follow the path Yang is forced to walk, reasoning that someone in Yang’s position would inevitably try to reconstruct his identity by retracing steps he once walked. With the immediate danger momentarily shifted, the investigation pivots on a single, crucial lead: a fingerprint left by the dead assassin at the hospital can be traced to a trail leading to a hidden world of violence and deception. This trail guides Yang and Lin to an MMA club, a place where the physicality of their world and the fragility of memory collide. It is here that Yang experiences a breakthrough, and memories— fragmentary and elusive—start to return with startling clarity. What he recalls is startling: he is not merely a victim of amnesia but an undercover agent working for the central government. The disappearances, Lin’s daughter among them, are part of a brutal organ-harvesting ring run by Mr Lei. The revelation exposes a deeper conspiracy in which Lu, a police officer who once appeared to be a guardian of order, has been collaborating with Lei in exchange for a chance to secure an organ transplant for a family member.

The truth sets in with chilling precision: Lei’s criminal empire needed Yang’s cooperation or his silence, and Lu’s alliance with Lei is revealed as an attempt to safeguard his own reputation and position. In a final, devastating confrontation, Lu confronts Lin with lethal intent, seeking to erase any trace of the past. Yang, driven by the memory that has finally returned, fires the decisive shot that ends Lu’s life and halts the immediate threat. The case closes not with a neat resolution but with a hard-won truth about what happened, why it happened, and who was behind it all.
