An arriving hiker requests a room and three beers, then spends the night sharpening a room key holder to be sharp enough to stab himself. The local man, imprisoned earlier, is bound and gagged and makes a desperate escape attempt. His ropes tangled in trees during the escape, he slips away without being seen. The escape underscores the escalating chaos surrounding the lodge.

Mr. Park drops in to confirm if his sister-in-law has been terminated, and is shocked to see the corpse of the undercover cop. A struggle ensues and Park accidentally falls to his death down the stairs. The discovery shatters any pretense of hospitality at the lodge.

Mrs. Jeong disables the lodge circuits to hide the burgeoning cremation and piles the corpses in the storage area. She and Dae-goo douse the bodies with gasoline to ensure nothing is left behind. Mina's plea to turn the circuits back on triggers an electrical spark that causes the storage fire to blaze prematurely.

The parents return from the flames in bandages and sit down for a quiet dinner, attempting to act as if nothing happened. A sudden knock at the door interrupts their routine, and they wait in silence, listening for who might be there. The scene underscores how the family has learned to live with secrets and to keep their own counsel.
