A National Revolutionary Army soldier from the south who infiltrates the warlord's province to steal the 3,000 rifles. He recruits Meng Kang and Tie Hu, driving the plan with a mix of desperation and nationalist resolve. Wan Tai is mortally wounded toward the end as pursuit closes in, leaving the others to carry on the mission in his memory.

Meng Kang is a vagabond who initially hesitates to join the heist but is drawn in by the promise of helping a nationalist cause. He gradually takes a leadership role among the trio, testing his loyalty and courage as danger mounts. He is mortally wounded in the final confrontation.

Meng's ally who joins the plan to steal the rifles and arms a local rebellion. He fights through the pursuit and endures the brutal clashes that follow, ultimately fatally stabbed in close quarters.
