Althea takes shelter under an abandoned bus stop during a heavy rain and meets Prabhu, a rugged stranger. They are wary at first but slowly open up and form an unexpected friendship through shared stories.

Prabhu explains his grim past: he hated his call centre job, and the only bright moment was Sowmya. He stole money from a sleeping stranger on a train to fund her visa, only for her to marry someone else, leaving him heartbroken. After the man died of a heart attack, he nearly attempted suicide at the Taramani railway station until a railway policeman intervened and later became his friend.

Prabhu is introduced to Adrian and Althea's mother, who disapproves of their budding friendship. The conflict drives Althea to leave the family home, setting new distances between them.

Forced to fend for herself, Althea spends a night sleeping rough at the railway station. She later confides to Prabhu that she caught her husband Jacob in an affair with a man, and she separated from him, unaware that she was pregnant at the time.

Adrian asks Althea if he can call Prabhu his father. Althea and Prabhu confess their feelings for each other and decide to move in together, strengthening their bond as a family.

Prabhu becomes possessive and overprotective, secretly suspecting an affair with Althea's boss. A crude text message triggers a heated argument that ends in their breakup.

During a holiday, Prabhu visits Sowmya and is offered chocolates, which he initially rejects. He then forces her to capture intimate photos to use for blackmail, but the box of chocolates contains more money than he had originally stolen, leaving him ashamed and he leaves.

Althea meets her boss, who makes sexist remarks. She posts selfies with him as a show of resolve and uses the incident to blackmail him into applying for a transfer. Prabhu accuses her of having an affair after seeing the photos online.

Disheartened, Prabhu adopts a darker path, flirting anonymously with lonely married women via phone and recording them to blackmail them for money. This marks a sharp moral decline from his earlier conduct.

One of Prabhu's targets turns out to be the wife of the city's assistant police commissioner. While investigating, the officer learns that the woman involved is his own wife, and he rushes home to confront them, beating Prabhu and his wife.

With the money Sowmya gave him, Prabhu visits the family of the man he previously stole from and repays the debt. The widow forgives him after learning the postmortem showed the husband died hours before the theft.

Prabhu seeks forgiveness from Althea; she forgives him but asks him to leave the city to safeguard Adrian. After several apologies over days, she finally accepts his love, and they plan to start life anew together.
