Madhavan Thampi and Prabhavati are introduced as a middle-aged, affluent couple with two sons. Elder son Vishnu is a top student who recently joined college as a lecturer and oversees several family ventures, earning praise for his business acumen and stability.

The younger son Aniyankuttan stars as the lead in Cleopatra, the college drama, with Kalyani playing Cleopatra and developing feelings for him. The campus setting provides the arena for romantic tensions to unfold.

Ammu is the drama queen who has a crush on Vishnu. Her roommates advise her to befriend Aniyankuttan first to win the family’s trust before pursuing Vishnu, triggering a web of half-truths and expectations.

Vishnu misreads the lover’s identity, assuming the secret liaison is with Kalyani rather than Ammu. He pledges support to Kalyani’s love for Aniyankuttan, adding to the misunderstandings within the family.

Ammu and Kalyani confide in each other and form a friendship. Their alliance softens tensions and adds a layer of trust as they navigate the complex love dynamics surrounding Vishnu and Aniyankuttan.

The timber mill burns down, bringing Aniyankuttan public humiliation and a caustic horoscope. He descends into heavy-heartedness and seeks solace in alcohol, deepening his personal crisis.

Madhavan and Prabhavati arrange a new bike for Aniyankuttan, much to his delight. He is then shown riding it with Ammu through the college verandah, which makes Ammu and Kalyani uncomfortable and uneasy about the attention.

That night Aniyankuttan spots a new car bought for Vishnu, while his own car request remains unmet. His jealousy heightens, intensifying the rift between the brothers.

During a family meal, Vishnu is served payasam in a crystal glass while Aniyankuttan receives a common cup. The slight becomes a symbol of perceived inequality and fuels resentment.

Back at the hostel, Aniyankuttan endures ridicule from friends and begins to question his own parentage. The social humiliation deepens his insecurity and sense of belonging within the family.

Aniyankuttan plots to harm Vishnu by placing oil on the stairs, causing his mother to slip and be hospitalized. He later attempts to poison Vishnu, but both plots fail, escalating the crisis and revealing his desperation.

Vishnu pulls Aniyankuttan aside to press for the truth, and Aniyankuttan admits that he is not Vishnu’s brother. The confession triggers a deeper search into their origins and the real family ties.

Madhavan reveals that he is Aniyankuttan’s father and had been a close ally who helped build the family wealth. The revelation reframes the brothers’ relationship and removes much of the earlier tension.

A car explosion places Vishnu in peril, but he survives. Aniyankuttan is overwhelmed with guilt and rushes to his brother, leading to a reconciliation that reinforces that family bonds extend beyond blood relations.

The conflicts resolve with Vishnu marrying Ammu and Aniyankuttan marrying Kalyani, bringing the story to a hopeful close with unity and new beginnings for the family.
