In a thrilling twist of cosmic happenstance, NASA’s state-of-the-art space probe, Infinity, unexpectedly finds itself darting through an intergalactic wormhole and crash-landing on Malgor, a planet teeming with strange and colorful alien life. Here, the treacherous inhabitant, Zartog, assumes control of Infinity’s advanced technology, enslaving the native population under his tyrannical rule. With communication to the probe at risk and their funding in jeopardy, NASA devises an unexpected plan involving a trio of highly intelligent chimpanzees: the brilliant Comet (voiced by Zack Shada), Lieutenant Luna (voiced by Cheryl Hines), and Commander Titan (voiced by Patrick Warburton). To draw media attention, the ambitious Senator Stanley Tucci enlists Ham III (voiced by Andy Samberg), the grandson of the very first primate in space, to join the brave mission. Initially hesitant about the venture, Ham III finds himself launched into the stars alongside Titan and Luna.

As they navigate the perilous wormhole, Titan and Luna are overwhelmed by its immense pressure, leaving Ham to bravely take control and land the spacecraft. Unfortunately, their ship falls victim to Zartog’s minions, who seize Titan and the probe for their sinister plans. In a desperate bid for liberation, Ham and Luna set off on a treacherous quest to reach Zartog’s lofty palace, aided by the mysterious alien Kilowatt (voiced by Kristin Chenoweth). Their journey leads them through lush valleys bursting with bizarre edible flora, and into the menacing cave of the Flesh-Devouring Beast. In a courageous sacrifice, Kilowatt chooses to draw the beast away, giving her life for their chance at survival.

As Ham, Luna, and Titan gather at Zartog’s palace, they uncover the villain’s evil scheme: to freeze the inhabitants of Malgor in an icy substance known as frznar. Reeling from Kilowatt’s selfless act and compelled by the suffering of the planet’s creatures, the chimpanzees make the seismic decision to change their course and confront Zartog, determined to dismantle his reign of fear. With their ship programmed to return home on autopilot, the trio relies on their resourcefulness and courage to outsmart Zartog and liberate Malgor’s oppressed beings.

Amidst the escalating chaos, Zartog unleashes his probe, threatening to entomb the chimpanzees in ice. But Titan’s clever maneuvering turns the tide, seizing control of the probe and sending Zartog hurtling into a pool of frigid frznar. Remarkably, Kilowatt is revived and helps the chimps escape their perilous situation. Empowered by Ham’s ingenuity and with the support of Malgor’s inhabitants, they create a makeshift vessel from the remnants of the probe, with none other than Zartog’s frozen form as the nose cone, guiding them through a volcanic eruption.

As they prepare to re-enter the wormhole, Titan passes the controls to Ham, whose fears are soothed by a vision of his illustrious grandfather. With Comet’s guidance, Ham adjusts the craft’s entry angle, but soon finds the vessel spiraling out of control, only for Luna to intervene just in time. However, mechanical failures arise, causing the nosecone to detach and damage one of the ship’s fins while Comet and Houston scramble to ready the HEMTT for their impending arrival.

Taking charge, Luna adeptly fixes the damage and enables Ham to regain control moments before they zip past a media conference. Although he seemingly sacrifices himself in a heroic act, Ham miraculously lands the vessel safely on the HEMTT, only to find Luna in a state of unconsciousness—her fate as uncertain as the loss he feared.

As Houston, Comet, and Titan rush to the scene, the buzz of the press and scientific community amplifies, prompting the Senator to dramatically raise funding for the space initiative, igniting celebrations among the scientists.

In a humorous post-credits scene, Zartog is discovered crashed and frozen in front of a suburban house, where a curious Dachshund delightedly urinates on him, a hilariously fitting end to his disastrous escapade.
