Emma Brackett, portrayed by Kaley Cuoco, is not only a lethal assassin but also a devoted wife and nurturing mother. Seven years ago, she fell deeply in love with David Oyelowo, who is now her husband. Together, they have a beautiful daughter named Caroline, played by Lucia Aliu, and their blended family also includes Dave’s son from a previous marriage, Wyatt, played by Regan Bryan-Gudgeon, who regards Emma as his mother.

However, the strain of Emma’s frequent work-related trips has left Dave feeling uncertain about their marriage’s vitality. Compounding this issue, Emma faced a wave of guilt after neglecting to remember their wedding anniversary. In a bid to rekindle the spark in their relationship, she decided to take a cue from Dave’s anniversary gift and suggested a role-play, where they would meet as two strangers in a posh hotel bar. True to her skill set, she donned a brunette wig, transforming her appearance for the encounter.

As fate would have it, Dave got caught in traffic, giving space for an elderly gentleman named Bob (played by Bill Nighy) to approach Emma. Bob seemed overly curious about her job and repeatedly commented on how familiar her face appeared. Just when Emma felt an impending sense of danger, she finally got rid of Bob as Dave joined her. Unfortunately, after returning to their hotel room, while Dave succumbed to his drunken stupor, Emma found herself drawn to Bob’s room, where she discovered that Bob was, in fact, an independent contract killer.

Things took a dire turn when Bob, recognizing Emma’s past—specifically her connection to an organization known as the Sovereign—sought to cut a deal with her that involved a hefty commission on future jobs. Emma, however, held the upper hand; unbeknownst to Bob, she had poisoned his drink back at the bar to keep him from contacting the Sovereign, but he attempted to retaliate in the chaos that ensued. With the authorities soon tracking the fallout, Dave and Emma’s trip took a dangerous twist as they found themselves the prime suspects in Bob’s murder.

Emma, then seeking refuge, told Dave she was heading to Boise for a meeting but instead fled to Berlin to rendezvous with her handler, Raj (portrayed by Rudi Dharmalingam). Dave’s concerns grew as he found himself waiting in vain at the airport, desperately trying to reach Emma, only to have his calls go unanswered. He was soon summoned for police questioning, where he uncovered the shocking truth—Emma had stolen the identity of a deceased woman.

As the web of deception untangled, Dave learned his wife was not who she claimed to be. Emma’s true identity was Anna Peller, a wanted criminal, and her connection to Bob was all part of a dangerous underworld she thought she had left behind. However, against all odds, Dave’s love remained. He sought to connect with Emma and ended up dialing numbers from hidden contacts, finally reaching her in Berlin, where they planned to discuss the tumultuous truth face-to-face.

The difficulties escalated further for Emma (Anna), as the Sovereign organization had her in their crosshairs, relentlessly pursuing her every move. When Emma and Dave finally reunited in a Berlin bar, she revealed her turbulent past intertwined with a manipulative mentor, Gwen Carver (depicted by Connie Nielsen). A revelation unfolded about how she had been trained to kill, bearing the burden of past violence. Despite everything, her love for Dave was genuine, and she yearned for a life outside the shadows, desiring to abscond with her family for a fresh start.

However, their dreams were shattered as members of the Sovereign took them hostage. Faced with the ultimatum presented by Gwen—kill Dave or lose her children—Emma’s ingenuity sparked a plan. She shot Dave, albeit non-lethally, which was part of her intricate strategy to escape their dire straits. With grit and determination, she fought against her former mentor, exemplifying how she had evolved beyond her training.

After an intense confrontation, Emma triumphed over Gwen and managed to rescue her family, reaffirming their bond as they returned to a semblance of normalcy, having successfully evaded the nefarious grasp of the Sovereign. Ultimately, Emma’s journey showcases not only the intricacies of love and deception but also the indomitable spirit of a mother protecting her family at all costs.
