Zoe Reynard Sharon Leal appears to have it all: a loving husband, Jason, two children, and she runs her own company that signs and develops aspiring artists. One evening, at an art show for Quinton Canosa, the air between them hums with flirtation, and a charged meeting at Quinton’s apartment to discuss a contract ends in a physical, undeniable connection.
What follows is a slow, uneasy slide from attraction to addiction. Zoe struggles with guilt yet keeps returning to the affair, their relationship looping through cycles of breakup and reconciliation. Each attempt to end things is thwarted by a pull she can’t resist, a pull that only grows stronger after she discovers Quinton’s infidelity with a neighbor, a revelation that destabilizes the fragile balance in her life.
Throughout the film, Zoe narrates her story to her therapist, Dr. Marcella Spencer, who diagnoses her with sex addiction and questions whether buried wounds from the past keep resurfacing to haunt her. Yet Zoe repeatedly dodges the therapist’s questions, leaving sessions unfinished and the mystery of her pain unresolved. As the addiction intensifies, she also becomes involved with a second man, Corey, whom she meets at a club, expanding the danger and complexity of her situation.
A pivotal moment arrives when Zoe returns home to find Corey talking with her mother. Realizing the threat she’s placed on her family, she resolves to repair her broken marriage. She arranges a tense meeting at Quinton’s apartment, inviting both Corey and Quinton, and tries to end the affairs once and for all. The scene spirals when Corey lunges, only to be blocked by Quinton. Corey is knocked out with a vase, and Zoe, terrified, pleads for safety as Quinton advances with a knife.
In a frantic turn, Jason arrives and, in a desperate act, smashes a sculpture over Quinton’s head, revealing that he had uncovered Zoe’s cheating through her cellphone. Zoe chases after Jason, apologizing, but he rejects her. In a moment of despair, she steps in front of a car, injuring herself, and the couple drift apart, with Jason choosing to stay in a hotel for now. Zoe retreats into seclusion until she finds a seat in a sex-addiction group therapy session, where the roots of her pain are laid bare: a traumatic rape endured when she was ten years old.
The film closes on a note of fragile possibility. In the group, Zoe speaks openly about her deep love for Jason, and in a charged, hopeful turn, Jason walks in, kisses her, and, for the moment, accepts her back. The journey suggests that healing, while difficult and imperfect, may begin when a broken past is acknowledged and faced together. Love, guilt, and the work of recovery intertwine as Zoe confronts what has defined her for so long, and the audience is left to weigh whether forgiveness can outpace the damage of a life shaped by secrecy and longing.
