Thee joins the assassins to get close to the person who ordered his parents' murder. After discovering that his parents were undercover detectives killed in an ambush, he vows to find the mastermind behind the killing. The only way to reach that level of the criminal underworld is to become part of it.

Thee's parents were undercover detectives who were killed in an ambush by an unknown attacker. The movie reveals they were eliminated as part of a larger conspiracy, with someone powerful ordering the hit. The specific identity of the triggerman is less important than the corrupt network behind the order.

Ploy is the granddaughter of a powerful businessman, making her a high-value target for rivals wanting to destabilize her grandfather. Thee was hired as protection, but the entire job was a setup, he was deliberately placed there to take the blame for her murder when the assassins struck.

The uncle Ping was also a former detective who walked away from that dangerous life. After the brothers' parents were killed, he swore to raise the boys away from that world and protect them from the same fate. The locked room contained evidence of their parents' work, he kept it hidden to spare them the truth and the danger that comes with it.

Si Fu is a Chinese doctor who becomes an ally to Thee and Ploy after the uncle's death. He provides medical expertise and resources to help them fight back against the assassins. His motivation stems from wanting to see the corruption exposed and justice served, he has his own reasons to oppose the powerful figures behind the conspiracy.

Than remains at the car repair shop after Thee leaves to join the assassins. While his brother pursues the truth in the underworld, Than trains in martial arts by studying old VHS tapes in a back room. When the uncle is killed, Than joins the fight alongside Thee and Ploy, bringing his honed skills into the final confrontation.

The corruption network is a system of powerful figures, business leaders and criminal elements, who use assassination and violence to maintain control. It extends beyond the personal vendetta against the brothers' parents to include systematic elimination of anyone who threatens their power. The network ordered the hit on Ploy as part of this broader scheme.
