The film opens inside a jail in India where inmates in the male ward chase a small mouse, turning the moment into a betting game. The tense humor offers a glimpse of life inside the prison and how inmates cope with confinement.

Sanju, an under-trial prisoner, successfully traps the mouse and takes his share of the winnings before leaving the scene. This small win shows his street-smart survival in the jail.

In the girls' ward, Bindu illegally earns money by providing eyebrow-cutting and manicure services to fellow inmates. Her enterprise highlights the informal economies that operate inside the prison.

A senior prisoner refuses to pay, prompting Bindu to steal her money and flee. The other girls pursue her and beat her brutally for the theft.

SP Dhulia summons all prisoners and announces a first-ever male-female under-trial band to perform on Independence Day. The unusual project injects a new goal into the prisoners' lives.

Dhulia explains that the band’s performances will earn grace points, potentially speeding up their jail sentences. The promise gives the prisoners a powerful incentive to perform well.

Auditions take place and Sanju and Bindu are chosen to join the band, along with Maskeen Singh, Ogu, Rufi, Tatyana and Sange.

The group bonds quickly and resolves to give their best for the Independence Day performance, motivated by the promise of Dhulia. They begin to rehearse and support each other.

During conversations, the prisoners reveal the personal reasons behind their imprisonment, hinting at the injustice or misunderstandings that led to their current situation.

Sanju explains he was framed by the jealous husband of a woman he had given a lift to on a rainy night, who claims he attempted to molest her. The accusation provides context for his wrongful imprisonment.

Bindu shares that she was accused of kidnapping her brother-in-law’s niece, while the real issue involves the brother-in-law's violence against his wife and daughter.

Rufi reveals that after his wedding, the car he owned was stolen, and a bomb blast in his city occurred soon after, leading to accusations of involvement with a terrorist group for not reporting the missing car.

Ogu explains he is imprisoned for attempting to procure drugs in Goa, a crime that brought him into this jail.
