Puthiya Mugham

Kichu is a resident of Kalpathy Agraharam, pursuing the mridangam and teaching local students. He dreams of a career in percussion and is supported by his family and friends, including his love interest Sreedevi. He eventually moves to Kochi to enroll in an engineering college, marking a shift from rural roots to urban ambitions.

Kichu enters engineering college in Kochi, pursuing his studies while continuing to teach mridangam locally. Sudhi, a senior student who runs with his gangster brothers Mahi and Giri, oversees the criminal dealings around campus. Anjana, Shivaraman's daughter, also joins, and Sudhi quickly falls for her.

Kichu earns respect with his talent and kindness, quickly winning over classmates. Sudhi becomes suspicious of Anjana's growing fondness for Kichu and leans on his brothers to shield the family criminal interests. The campus atmosphere grows tense as rival loyalties form.

Sudhi arranges an official marriage proposal through Anjana's family; they accept, but Anjana demands four years before the wedding. During this period she exercises her freedom, which fuels Sudhi's jealousy and unease.

To scare Kichu out of the college, Sudhi dispatches his brothers to attack him at the college hostel. The assault shocks the campus and triggers deeper conflict within the student body.

Kichu sustains a blow to the head and, in the confusion, attacks a friend who tries to help him. He is rushed to a hospital, where doctors reveal a flashback phenomenon linked to childhood trauma. The revelation explains his sudden bursts of violence.

Sreedevi's family disapproves of the marriage, and Kichu's own family asks him not to return to college, but his father urges him to go back and strive for a future. The push re-energizes Kichu to confront the escalating tensions.

Back at the college, Kichu confronts Sudhi and his gang, delivering a brutal thrashing that reasserts his position on the campus. In the melee, Mahi is mortally wounded, slipping into a coma.

Shivaraman, colluding with Mahi and Giri, has Kichu arrested and taken to the police station. Kichu learns that he is slated for transfer to a sub-jail where an execution could follow.

Kichu appears to be unconscious during the transfer, but it is a ruse that allows him to trick his captors. He is rushed to a hospital, where he escapes from custody and disappears.

Sudhi kidnaps Anjana, leading to a final showdown at an abandoned construction site. After a heated confrontation and close combat, Sudhi dies and Kichu escapes with Anjana, who has fallen for him.
