Manimekalai refuses Kannan's invitation to perform at the college function because she knows his reputation for misbehaving with women. She is protective of her independence and sees him as a wealthy, spoiled young man who uses his status to pursue women carelessly. This initial perception makes her reject him repeatedly, even when he tries to win her over with grand gestures.

The film establishes Kannan's reckless character early through his lavish birthday celebrations and his tendency to use money to get what he wants.

Manimekalai frames Kannan for stealing cash to push him away and protect herself from her growing feelings for him. Recognizing their sincerity and Kannan's transformation, Raja chooses to bless their union instead of standing between them.

After Kannan's mother dies and his adopted father passes away leaving him the estate, he chooses to donate his wealth to orphanages. This act marks his complete transformation from the reckless, spoilt young man who threw lavish parties to someone who uses his resources to help those in need. The donation symbolizes his redemption and spiritual growth.

Earlier, Kannan's father had rebuked him for flaunting wealth and power, suggesting his arrogance needed to be corrected.

Manimekalai files an eve-teasing complaint against Kannan because she genuinely fears his persistent pursuit and wants him to stop. Her father also visits Kannan's home to beg him to leave his daughter alone. The complaint leads to Kannan's arrest, and his father refuses to bail him out, seeing it as a chance to teach him a lesson about misusing power.

The complaint follows Kannan's escalating attempts to win Manimekalai, including bribing villagers, fixing infrastructure, and even fighting her neighbor.

After Manimekalai moves to Ooty, Kannan and Govindan follow her to apologize. Kannan helps Raja recover a money-containing suitcase from thieves, earning Raja's trust and a job as his driver. Both end up working for Raja unknowingly. Their proximity in Ooty, combined with Kannan's sincere efforts to change, gradually creates opportunities for reconnection despite Manimekalai's initial resistance.

Govindan accidentally finds a house in the same colony as Manimekalai, bringing them all into close proximity.

Tragedy strikes Kannan's family after his transformation begins: his mother Lakshmi dies, and his adopted father becomes paralyzed. Kannan takes responsibility to care for his ailing father until he eventually passes away. This chain of events deepens Kannan's maturity and sense of responsibility, ultimately leading his father to bequeath the estate to him.

The timing of these tragedies tests Kannan's newfound character and commitment to family.
