Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt

Panty and Stocking are banished from Heaven for bad behavior and sent to Daten City, a place between Earth and Heaven. God orders them to hunt ghosts, with Heaven Coins earned from each kill to unlock re-entry. They start their new life under Gaterbelt the priest, who regularly scolds them and enlists their help against the hauntings.

Gaterbelt passes ghost locations to the sisters and berates their distracting antics. They chase various hauntings across Daten City, quickly discovering how much Heaven Coins they can earn. Panty and Stocking unleash their angelic weapons to dispatch ghosts.

Panty and Stocking encounter Scanty and Kneesocks, rival demon sisters who mirror their powers. The mayor Corset is introduced as a power-hungry figure plotting to capture Hell's Monkey and use it to open the gates and conquer Earth. The stage is set for a cosmic showdown.

Panty becomes increasingly focused on pursuing sexual conquests, pulling away from ghost-hunting duties. Stocking must shoulder most of the work, straining their partnership. The dynamic tension fuels the early conflicts of the series.

The sisters accumulate enough Heaven Coins to reach Heaven, but only Stocking is admitted while Panty is kept out because of her laziness. The rift deepens as Panty continues ignoring duties and pleasures over purpose. The reward system exposes growing flaws in their teamwork.

Corset explains that a second Hell gate could resurrect Panty if the plan is completed by Brief. The revelation leaves Panty's status in limbo and shifts the focus to new schemes. Stocking's loyalty to Corset becomes a factor.
