Bhuvana, a famous singer, falls in love with Vishwanathan, a leading businessman. She becomes pregnant before their wedding, and Vishwanathan pressures her to abort. Unable to go along with abortion, Bhuvana resolves to keep the child and contemplates the uncertain future.

Deciding not to abort, Bhuvana breaks up with Vishwanathan and leaves with her brother Rao Bahadur, without informing him. They disappear from his life, taking the secret of the pregnancy with them.

Bhuvana gives birth to a baby boy. Rao Bahadur hands the infant to Aarumugam, asks him to kill the child, and lies to Bhuvana that the baby was stillborn.

Aarumugam chooses to raise the child on his own instead of killing him, hoping to exploit the infant later for money. He names the boy Muthu and raises him away from the original family.

Muthu grows up and lands a job in a factory owned by Shankar, who is Vishwanathan and Pushpa's son. The job ties Muthu to the world that will reveal his identity.

Muthu notices workers are paid poorly and decides to fight against the exploitation. His stand angers Shankar and Rao Bahadur, who stand to lose money and authority.

Latha, Rao Bahadur's daughter, falls in love with Muthu without knowing who he really is. The romance adds complication to the tension between the factory owners and the workers.

In his first salary, Muthu buys alcohol, which enrages Aarumugam. He then reveals to Muthu that he is an orphan, a truth that unsettles Muthu and makes him leave Aarumugam's home.

Shankar transfers Muthu to work at his estate in Ooty with a plan to kill him. There, Muthu meets Vishwanathan and gradually earns his goodwill.

At the Ooty estate, Muthu builds a rapport with Vishwanathan, winning his trust and complicating the family dynamics while his true identity remains hidden.

During a function, Saranraj plans to kill Muthu but ends up injuring Vishwanathan, who then needs a rare blood type for surgery, heightening the stakes for the characters.

Bhuvana is revealed to be alive and living in an ashram. When she sees a donation ad for the needed blood, she comes forward to save Vishwanathan's life.

Shankar and Rao Bahadur attempt to kill Bhuvana on the way to donate blood, hoping to eliminate Vishwanathan as well. Muthu intervenes and saves her from the danger.

It is revealed that Muthu is Bhuvana's son. Vishwanathan is saved, and he marries Bhuvana with Pushpa's consent, reuniting the family at last.
