Overland Pacific

Ross Granger travels by stagecoach and noisily sends telegraphs as an uninterested passenger and an irate woman accompany him. They discover a worker with an arrow in his back hanging from a telegraph pole and load the body onto the coach. The body falls off before they reach Oaktown, and Granger fights the driver over the loss, sending him back to retrieve the body.

In the Silver Dollar Saloon, Granger runs into Del Stewart, a friend from the Civil War. Del invites Granger to dinner with his girlfriend Ann Dennison, and they reminisce about old times. The encounter hints at Del's deeper schemes beneath the friendly surface.

Outside town, men lay a new railroad track for Overland Pacific when Comanche warriors spring the attack with bows and rifles. The assault raises suspicions of sabotage and tightens the town’s tension. The workers fear for their lives as danger closes in.

Del Dennison, engaged to Ann, visits her father to persuade him to reroute the railway through Oaktown. The father resists, standing firm against the scheme. Del’s partner shoots the father dead, and the killer and Del attend the funeral, deepening the conflict.

Granger begins working as the town’s telegraph operator, but many suspect he may be an impostor. The sheriff warns of brewing trouble and reveals where the Comanche rifles are hidden. Granger senses an ambush may be coming and prepares for trouble.

An ambush is set against Granger by Jason. Granger is shot in the chest but manages to fight back and kill Jason in self-defense. The assault confirms the danger looming over the railroad project.

The sheriff is revealed to be aligned with Del and the saboteurs. He draws his gun on Granger, who collapses before he can be shot. The townspeople realize not everyone is on the level.

Granger revives in town and learns that Jason killed Mr. Dennison. Del is exposed as the mastermind hiring the Comanche to attack the railroad, linking him to the murder and the sabotage plot. The web of deceit tightens around Del.

Jealous Jessie Lorraine, a dance-hall girl, loves Del but grows wary of his true nature. Del and his cohorts secretly sell repeater rifles to Chief Dark Thunder and the Comanche to keep the railroad from crossing their land. Del and rancher Broden also push to reroute the line through Oaktown, where they own property.

A hired gun and a corrupt sheriff both end up dead in the power struggle. Ann breaks off her engagement after learning Del’s scheme; Jessie, initially pleased by the deception, discovers Del’s true nature and is shot by him in a fit of rage. The town reels from the volatility of Del’s machinations.

Granger confronts Del in a climactic shootout and emerges victorious. With Del defeated, Granger and Ann begin a romance, signaling a hopeful turn for both their futures and the railroad project. The immediate threat to Oaktown is dispelled for the time being.

With Del’s scheming brought to light and his plans foiled, the railroad project can proceed more safely. Granger and Ann’s relationship is solidified as the town breathes a sigh of relief. The balance of power shifts away from saboteurs toward rebuilding and reconciliation.
