Cowboys Tim Holt Tim Holt and Chito Rafferty Richard Martin are finding it hard to lock down steady work until they come to the aid of Terry Muldoon Gail Davis, who works at her father’s Arizona telegraph operation and is perched up on a pole when they arrive. She suggests they seek out Colonel Marvin Russell Hicks at nearby Fort Craig, hoping the military man might have a solution to keep the telegraph line alive.

Colonel Marvin has just been ordered to shut down the fort because the telegraph renders it obsolete, a move that threatens the whole operation. This setback irks Paul Manning George Nader, a stubborn freighter of equipment and horses who is already teetering on bankruptcy. The looming financial ruin threatens his plans to marry his sweetheart, Stella Mari Blanchard, a singer with her own stake in a hopeful future. Paul’s best friend, Brad Roberts Hugh Beaumont, a saloon owner, urges him to press ahead with the wedding regardless of the money trouble.

Tim and Chito arrive at Terry’s camp just as six masked saboteurs strike, tearing down wires and sowing chaos. Tim acts quickly, wounding one intruder named Steve Robert Bray before the trio scatters on horseback. They trail the attackers to Mesa City, where Steve and his partner Bellew Robert J. Wilke seek help from Brad. Brad shoots Steve dead and claims it was self-defense, and Tim and Chito grow wary of Brad’s involvement but lack solid proof.

Terry, convinced Paul is behind the sabotage, hires Tim and Chito as guards on a stagecoach carrying a $10,000 payroll. Paul, meanwhile, makes a calculated move, paying Bellew in Brad’s office and netting himself about $50,000 in delays—a margin that sweetens temptation and fuels suspicion. Brad, sensing an opportunity, secretly hires Bellew to steal the Muldoon payroll, intending to pin the crime on Paul.

The stage encounter turns violent when Bellew and Joe ambush the coach, seizing Muldoon’s bag and Stella’s purse while shooting Muldoon. Tim and Chito arrive just in time to disrupt the theft, but Muldoon dies from his wounds, and a shaken Terry contemplates the consequences of the escalating feud.

Chito carts Paul to jail to await the sheriff, while Terry leads a lynch mob against him. Paul admits some sabotage happened but refuses to name Brad, and Tim urges him to move toward Crockerville for a quieter wedding with Stella. Bellew, ever watchful, relays what he’s learned to Brad, who orders Paul killed to keep the truth buried.

As Tim and Paul ride toward Crockerville, Bellew and Joe open fire. Paul is wounded, but Tim manages to capture Joe, and Paul leads him to Brad’s nearby ranch to mend. Bellew fills Brad in on the outcome, and Brad orders Bellew to assemble others to hunt down Tim.

Back at Brad’s house, Tim discovers Stella’s stolen purse, and Paul finally exposes Brad’s role in the sabotage. Paul realizes Brad is trying to frame him because he’s in love with Stella, adding a tragic layer to the feud. Chito identifies Joe’s horse outside the doctor’s office, ties Joe up, and alerts Tim. Joe is freed by Brad and Bellew, who hurry toward Brad’s house, while Chito races to Terry’s camp for help.

The climactic confrontation unfolds with Tim and Paul exchanging fire with Brad’s gang. Bellew sets the house ablaze, but Tim and Paul manage to extinguish the flames and press the fight. Chito arrives with Terry, and Tim finally shoots and captures Brad, ending the immediate threat.

In the end, Paul and Stella seal their union, and the remaining threads of the conflict settle into a cautious, hopeful future as the desert air clears over Crockerville.
