One Leg Kicking

Tai Po and Vernon are shown enjoying soccer as a common pastime. After Tai Po enters a Youth Soccer Competition tryout, he suffers a leg injury with bleeding. From then on, he shuns soccer matches on radio or television while at work.

Handsome is released from prison and re-enters life through Kim's letters from overseas. He shows up for a job interview outside Sonny Lee's factory, where Gavin has just returned from studying in the United States. Gavin interviews him and hires him on the condition that half of his salary goes to the company's soccer team.

Tai Po, Kim, and Baka fail to fix a plumbing issue and accidentally break a glass bowl worth $15,000. Their promotion salary of $10,000 is forfeited to compensate the customer, and the company still owes $5,000.

Sonny offers overtime work to repay the debt by installing a swimming pool at his estate. Gavin suggests reorganizing the team, appointing Toh as Tai Po's new partner.

Kim tells a horror story to Tai Po, which unsettles Handsome and sours his relationship with Kim. The tale adds tension to their evolving dynamics within the group.

While watching television, they come across an advertisement for a Starhub soccer challenge offering World Cup Finals tickets. Vernon suggests they enter by contacting his old soccer mates, and Tai Po reveals his pairing with Handsome.

Vernon registers a team into the competition and meets Eugene, who becomes their coach but is as bad at soccer as the team. Tai Po tries to recruit Toh for a trial, but Toh thinks Tai Po is challenging him to a fight.

Vernon and Tai Po locate two Brazilian soccer experts, Adriano and Vernato, after they are robbed at the construction site. They recruit both Brazilians into the team and also bring in Toh as the goalkeeper.

The Durians face tough matches, including a bout with a female team and the Kosmos, Sonny's company team. A drunken field cleaner who laughs at them is revealed to be Sammy, adding a surprising twist to the team’s fortunes.

At a KTV pub, Handsome remembers Gwen and tears up while trying to confess his love. He is later beaten up while attempting to save Kim, revealing his ongoing anger management problems. Kim counsels him and begins to chart her own path.

In Gavin's party, he is shown to keep a Barbie doll, illustrating his extreme sadism. Gwen resigns as Kosmos manager, criticizing Sonny, and Sonny's harshness toward Tai Po becomes more evident.

The finals approach brings tension to the group. Sammy is admitted to hospital for liver failure, and Tai Po faces mounting bills and reduced salary. Sonny offers 10,000 to the team on the condition that they do not play the next day, or risk being fired.

The Durians gather to decide their future; they consider giving up, but Eugene scolds them for being shallow and urges perseverance. Sammy reminds Tai Po that he was a talented youth player and that his fears are unfounded.

Most of the Durians' roster is missing at the start, but Tai Po, Baka, and Toh return Sonny's money and rejoin the squad. Adriano and Vernato arrive with cheering construction workers to bolster the ranks, and Sammy sneaks out of the hospital to watch. Tai Po scores the decisive goal after Gavin is restrained, giving the Durians a dramatic victory.

The team forms a mobile phone shop, and Kim and Handsome are married. Tai Po takes his kids on a holiday and becomes more secure financially. Vernon pursues a singing career in Las Vegas, while Sammy becomes a full-time soccer coach with Eugene and signs autographs for fans as the film ends.
