Inspired by real events, Curtis Plummer (Ice Cube) is a former high school football sensation who finds himself in a tough spot. When he decides to transform his niece, Jasmine (Keke Palmer), into the quarterback for the local team, the Minden Browns, his life takes a turn for the better. After the original coach, Matt Craven, falls ill, Curtis steps up as the new leader, rejuvenating not only his own passion for the game but also igniting the flames of hope in a team that had been written off.
