In Bangalore, central minister Ghanshyam Yadav is rescued from an ambush by a seasoned news reporter returning from Kolkata, Gagan Dixit. As he digs into the incident, he uncovers a dangerous pattern: the assault appears to be a staged ploy designed to drum up sympathy votes for the elections. He shares his findings with the newspaper editor, Avinash, and then leaks the story anonymously, which only fuels Yadav’s fury.
Gagan teams up with his best friend, Keshav, and moves into a haunted house owned by Namadev, despite warnings. Gagan tries to reassure Keshav that their sacred thread on the right wrist will keep them safe, a superstition that frames much of their early caution. Their attempt to locate a mysterious phone number leads them to the mobile network office, where they encounter Sakshi(/actor/rachita-ram), the manager who refuses to divulge the information. After the initial story goes public, the editor assigns Gagan to a high-stakes interview with Yadav aboard his private jet. The interview is tense, and when the jet lands in Bellary, Yadav is found bleeding, upending Gagan’s belief that this is another hollow attempt at sympathy.
Gagan’s act of saving Yadav earns him a fragile alliance with the minister. His past rescue of Sakshi from goons in her office had already earned her trust, and she had promised to share the location. Yet Namadev pulls Sakshi back into the conspiracy, insisting the whole setup is a trap. When Gagan returns to Sakshi’s office, her father’s stroke and her own fainting escalate the tension. Nevertheless, Gagan and Yadav manage to rescue Sakshi and her father in time, and Sakshi’s growing affection for Gagan leads her to reveal the location.
As the couple navigates the eerie house, paranormal happenings escalate, and Keshav challenges Namadev. A fight breaks out, resulting in Gagan losing his sacred thread. The house seems to alter Gagan’s perception, and he discovers a pair of spectacles that shift his behavior whenever he wears them. A visit to the renowned veteran actress B. Saroja Devi at a country club intensifies his blurred vision, making the spectacles necessary to regain focus. He then directs his attention to Prabhakar Reddy, a lawyer, whom he brutalizes in a pool sequence, repeatedly asking, > “Why did you kill me?” Prabhakar escapes, and Gagan collapses.
At Yadav’s birthday celebration, Gagan, increasingly under the spell of the spectacles, drinks and lashes out violently, leaving Yadav badly hurt but alive. When he awakens, he finds himself in prison, with little memory of how the events unfolded. The media latch onto the sensational story of a man living in a haunted house, and an observer hints at the suicide of his niece Shruthi, which supposedly occurred there. Sakshi then discloses that the crucial number’s location is the same house, and the revelation shatters Gagan: the number points to his girlfriend, Shruthi.
The narrative then rewinds to the past: Shruthi works under Prabhakar Reddy as a junior lawyer. She travels to Kolkata and meets Gagan after reading his piece about disabled persons. Together they draft articles to file a case against Yadav for selling counterfeit products. Gagan proposes to Shruthi and asks her to call him once she reaches Bangalore, but no reply comes, and he eventually travels to find her.
In the present, Gagan is taken not to a mental hospital but to the ashram of Yadav’s mentor, Guruji, where a ritual aims to exorcise the spirit that has invaded him. The spectacles reappear, revealing Shruthi as the spirit. Gagan then commits a violent act against Reddy, followed by Yadav, who is held hostage by Shruthi’s uncle as the climactic confrontation unfolds. In court, Guruji deflects the truth while doctors declare MPD, and the judge orders Gagan to a mental asylum.
A flashback within the ashram shows Gagan killing Shruthi’s uncle and Yadav, after which he confesses to Guruji that he was never possessed—he planned to avenge Shruthi’s death. He presents a video chat with Shruthi, in which he witnesses Yadav, Reddy, and Shruthi’s uncle killing Shruthi and staging a suicide. Gagan asserts that he can be proven spiritually and scientifically innocent, pressuring Guruji to lie before the media.
In the final moments, Gagan sits in a mental asylum van and glimpses Guruji in a car. Guruji looks at him without blinking, and as Guruji drives away, Gagan’s rueful smile hints at his unresolved resolve.
