In the wake of these events, Max reaches for a lifeline from his father and calls to quit the job, only to confront a new horror at home: Jack’s face is all cut up, a reminder that the threat has found him as well. Max intervenes just in time to save his father, and the moment steels his resolve to stay at the Mayflower, even as he recognizes that something far more sinister is at work. Determined to uncover the truth behind the mirror manifestations, Max ventures to the main mirror with a flashlight as his guide. The light leads him to a box containing Eleanor Reigns’s ID, a new Mayflower employee who vanished two months earlier. A missing-person flier for Eleanor confirms that she disappeared, and Max reaches out to Eleanor’s sister, Elizabeth. The two of them piece together a troubling clue: someone had deleted the surveillance files on the night of Eleanor’s disappearance from the store’s computer. Their investigation leads them to Henry Schow, the store’s former security guard who had the last access to the files and who bears a scar on his mouth that mirrors the damage appearing in the mirror world. Through Henry, they learn the essential truth: Eleanor is dead, and the circumstances around her death reveal a terrible crime committed within the Mayflower.

Two months earlier, during the store’s groundbreaking party, Jenna had spiked Eleanor’s drink while Ryan talked with her. Keller Landreaux then raped Eleanor, and when she tried to run, he killed her. Henry discovered Keller burying Eleanor’s body in the basement crawlspace and was forced to erase the surveillance footage to shield Keller from exposure. Eleanor’s spirit, trapped in the mirror realm, began to enact vengeance against those responsible for her death. She manipulated Henry’s reflection to devour shards of glass and to carry out killings of Jenna and Ryan, making Max realize that his near-death experience had somehow granted him the ability to see the spirits that haunt the store.

As Eleanor’s thirst for vengeance intensifies, she compels Max to help her contact her sister, threatening Jack’s life in the process. Max accepts the burden, recognizing that his own brush with death has altered his perception of the living and the dead. With Elizabeth, he returns to the Mayflower to search for Eleanor’s body in the basement. Keller pursues them, and in a dangerous confrontation he nearly strangulates Elizabeth, only to be thwarted by Max, whose return to danger recreates the near-death moment that allows Elizabeth to see Eleanor’s presence for the first time. Eleanor acknowledges Max’s help, and the two press on toward a final confrontation.

In the climactic sequence, Max wrestles Keller and hurls him into the main mirror, where Eleanor’s spectral power asserts itself. Keller is pulled into the mirror world by Eleanor, and with a final act of recognition, she pulls him inside and kills him. Max and Elizabeth stand in stunned silence as the truth of the killer’s fate sinks in. The aftermath shifts into a police investigation: Henry confesses to his role in helping cover up Eleanor’s murder and the related crimes. The authorities imply Keller has fled and blame him for Jenna and Ryan’s deaths, but the truth remains interwoven with the supernatural forces at play. In a final twist of fate, the one-way interrogation room mirror begins to crack when Henry is left alone, and he sees Eleanor’s reflection, signaling that she has claimed another soul. The screen cuts to black, leaving the blurred line between the living and the dead lingering in the minds of viewers.
