Audrey Mitchell’s ordinary morning quickly spirals into a nightmare that begins in a shower and ends with a chilling glimpse of a dark, glove-clad presence. After a glance at a hand concealed by a black glove, Audrey bolts from the steamy room, only to be drawn back into fear as she discovers blood lining the closet and is suddenly yanked beneath her bed, her screams echoing into silence.

The haunting doesn’t stop there. Sarah Morris, a diligent college student who hosts a late-night radio show and tries to help others tackle their problems, becomes entwined in Audrey’s terror. When Audrey bursts into Sarah’s room at night, whispering that “He’s everywhere,” the two form a uneasy alliance. Audrey ends up staying with Sarah, hoping someone will listen. During Sarah’s next radio broadcast, Audrey calls in to talk about the Boogeyman, but the room is skeptical. Undeterred, Sarah goes in search of Audrey, while Dr. Kane stays on the line in case Audrey needs help. The danger escalates when the Boogeyman strikes again, this time turning Audrey’s fears into a deadly reality: the girl who warned of the creature appears to have hanged herself in a tragic, unnerving moment.

The mystery deepens as Sarah discovers a diary among Audrey’s belongings. Her readings convince her that the Boogeyman is real and feeds on fear, driving her to warn her friends—Lukas, Jeremy, Ben, Lindsey, and her boyfriend, David—who refuse to believe that a supernatural force could be behind the earlier deaths. Meanwhile, ominous events unfold in the dorms: Lukas is found with his face crushed into broken glass, Jeremy is torn apart and crushed inside a trunk, and Ben is killed by spinning blades after venturing into the ventilation system. Sarah’s visions grow more vivid, offering a glimpse into an alternate, darker world where the Boogeyman seems to manipulate events from beyond the ordinary.

The campus buzzes with whispers of the Boogeyman, and Sarah’s warnings begin to blur the line between paranoia and truth. Dr. Kane grows concerned about Sarah’s mental health as the situation intensifies. In a bid to protect others, Sarah takes over the radio station to broadcast a warning, which lands her in trouble with campus security. Her chance at vindication comes when a tragedy confirms the reality of the threat: Lindsey’s body is found in a washer, and Dr. Kane is killed by a cruel, brutal force that seems to be more than just a superstition. As the evidence mounts, Sarah realizes the Boogeyman thrives on fear and uses it to draw power from the legends people choose to believe.

Desperation pushes Sarah to act in a last-ditch effort to save David, who has started to believe her story after poring over the diary. She rushes back to their room, only to find David staring into a dark closet as the Boogeyman drags him inside. David is horrifically expelled back into the room, his body a tapestry of blood and horror. When the police and students arrive, the world seems to hinge on a difficult truth: Sarah confesses to all the murders to extinguish the Boogeyman’s growing power, insisting he isn’t real. Yet an elevator ride reveals the opposite—an officer voices doubt, and the elevator stalls as the Boogeyman drags Sarah up into the shaft, leaving onlookers in stunned disbelief.

A year later, the dormitory still bears the marks of the tragedy. Amy and Jennifer occupy Sarah’s old room, and Amy recounts the legend of the “crazy girl” who believed the Boogeyman haunted the room a year prior. The college has renamed the dorm to ease new residents’ fears, but the fear lingers. Jennifer seeks a moment of peace in the library, while Amy’s unsettling behavior hints at the lingering threat. Left alone, Amy becomes the target of the Boogeyman, who drags her beneath the bed to an unknown fate, ensuring that the fear continues to thrive in the shadows of What’s After the Movie.
