Gigi and her husband, Fai, move into her old family mansion in a quiet village near Yuen Long to join her mother and sister, Fan. The house sits at an inauspicious location, a crossroads of yin and yang that, according to local beliefs, could invite spirits. A feng shui expert, Tin Bo Chiu, warns them that the protective charms around the mansion are fading and that they should leave within seven days—or face trouble. But Gigi and Fai choose to stay.
Strange things begin to happen. Gigi’s mother, Ah Gi’s mother, is said to be senile, yet one night she appears lucid and chats with Gigi. Ghosts kidnap Fai’s spirit and refuse to release him until he wins a rigged game of mahjong; a ghost possesses his body in the meantime. Fan is possessed by another restless spirit as well. The phone rings repeatedly, with no one on the line, and only Gigi seems to hear it.
A businessman comes with a demand to buy the land, but the family refuses. He sends two thugs to burn down the mansion, yet they are driven off by ghosts. Later, the businessman is found strangled to death while his wife is attacked by an unseen force.
Gigi seeks help from her boss, Uncle Ming, who lends her a pair of magic glasses. The glasses reveal that both Fai and Fan are possessed. Tin Bo Chiu explains that the non-senile mother Gigi saw that night was in fact her mother’s spirit, temporarily leaving her body. Since Gigi’s mother once worked as a ghostbuster, they summon her spirit for aid.
Her mother explains that the spectral events are tied to the vengeful ghost of Gigi’s aborted daughter, who has been guiding other ghosts to exact revenge on her mother. With the combined help of her mother’s spirit and Uncle Ming, Gigi rescues Fai and Fan and finally reconciles with her daughter’s ghost, who forgives her for the abortion. In the end, Gigi and Fai decide to try for another child.
