TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES – CHROME ALONE 2: LOST IN NEW JERSEY

Leo (Nicholas Cantu), Donnie (Micah Abbey), Mikey (Shamon Brown Jr), and Raph (Brady Noon) are walking around the city trying to find a good Christmas gift for Splinter. They stop and see a commercial for knock-off toys based off them, which look lame. The boys find out that they come from a company in Jersey, which they are not thrilled to have to go to. The Turtles find the factory is run by a villain named Chrome Dome (Zach Woods), an AI robot that wants to cash in on ripping off other properties. The Turtles try to fight Chrome Dome, but he copies all of their fight moves. They realize they need to trick Chrome Dome into mimicking moves that will hurt him. After making him beat himself up, Leo retracts his limbs into his shell, which Chrome Dome copies and causes him to blow himself and the factory up. The boys return home after choosing to get Splinter something more heartfelt. They see that he has already gotten them their gifts…and it’s the ugly knock-off dolls. The Turtles decide to burn them after opening them, and Raph declares that AI sucks.

SPONGEBOB

The film starts with a pirate (Clancy Brown) telling the story about a pirate who fell under a mysterious curse. That pirate was The Flying Dutchman (Mark Hamill), who is fated to roam the seven seas for eternity. Legend has it that only a pure and innocent soul can break The Dutchman’s curse, and he is out to find whoever that may be.

In Bikini Bottom, SpongeBob (Tom Kenny) wakes up with Gary and sees that he has grown to “36 clams tall”, officially making him a “big guy”. He goes to share the good news with Patrick (Bill Fagerbakke), so that they can go to the Booty Beard’s amusement park and ride the dreaded Shipwreck roller coaster.

Upon arriving at the park, SpongeBob sees how extreme the roller coaster is, so he makes an excuse to Patrick about how he can’t go because Mr. Krabs (also Clancy Brown) is not there. Patrick drags SpongeBob to the Krusty Krab to get Mr. Krabs, but he helps SpongeBob convince Patrick that he can’t go on the roller coaster. Mr. Krabs then tells SpongeBob about how he used to be a swashbuckling pirate captain who sailed alongside The Flying Dutchman in the treacherous land of The Underworld, until he took off with his prized horn. SpongeBob wishes he could be as brave as his boss.

SpongeBob and Patrick are in the Krusty Krab bathroom when they hear a sound beckoning them. The two end up in the restaurant’s basement, where Mr. Krabs has built a whole room devoted to the pirate life. SpongeBob then finds The Dutchman’s horn, which he blows into since he wants to prove himself as a “big guy”. This summons The Dutchman and his ship, where he is accompanied by his first mate Barb (Regina Hall). The Dutchman invites SpongeBob onto his ship after seeing him with the horn and plots a scheme with the little yellow guy. Patrick tags along, to The Dutchman and Barb’s annoyance. Meanwhile, Mr. Krabs hears the horn and rushes downstairs with Squidward (Rodger Bumpass), but he is too late to save SpongeBob before he and Patrick head down a portal to The Underworld with the ghost pirates. Krabs and Squidward are joined by Gary as they head to save the duo.

The Dutchman brings SpongeBob and Patrick to Challenge Cove in The Underworld, where they must go down a long road of extensive challenges, to gain “intestinal fortitude”, but really so that The Dutchman can use SpongeBob to lift his curse. The crew is attacked by skeleton fish pirates, who do battle with the ghosts so they can fortify intestines. SpongeBob and Patrick prepare to fight back but use some seaweed as intestines and start goofing off. This makes the skeleton crew laugh themselves so much that they literally fall apart.

Mr. Krabs, Squidward, and Gary drive to Bikini Bottom High School, where they come upon Davy Jones’s Locker and find the entrance to The Underworld.

SpongeBob and the pirates go through more increasingly elaborate and insane challenges in The Underworld. The Dutchman convinces SpongeBob that, in order to be a true swashbuckler, he has to let go of certain things, like blowing bubbles with Patrick, which makes the starfish sad. Meanwhile, Barb also is sad to learn that The Dutchman doesn’t consider her a friend the way she does with him.

Krabs and company end up sailing by some sirens. Despite Mr. Krabs’s attempts to steer them away, Squidward is drawn in when they invite him to play the clarinet with them. He plays as he usually does (terribly), prompting the sirens to attack Squidward until Mr. Krabs steps in to save him.

After completing the final challenge, SpongeBob and The Dutchman find a platform where the ghost captain tries to get SpongeBob to blow the horn again. Mr. Krabs, Squidward, and Gary arrive in time to stop them. The Dutchman then makes Mr. Krabs admit the truth about his time on The Dutchman’s ship. Mr. Krabs was not a captain, but the ship’s fry cook who was mocked for being a bubble blower like SpongeBob before he stole the horn from The Dutchman. Feeling lied to, SpongeBob blows the horn to prove he is brave, but this causes him and The Dutchman to switch places, making Dutchie human again while SpongeBob becomes a ghost pirate, “FlyingBob DutchPants”. Mr. Krabs is also affected since he tried to save SpongeBob, so now he is a ghost pirate as well. Barb is heartbroken when The Dutchman ascends to the surface world without her.

SpongeBob laments what he did to himself and Mr. Krabs, but Barb turns on her former captain and tells the heroes that if they destroy The Dutchman’s horn before sundown, the curse will be reversed, or else they will be stuck like that forever. SpongeBob and Mr. Krabs ascend to the surface world while Barb takes Patrick and Gary home.

The Dutchman goes to hang out at an amusement park. SpongeBob and Mr. Krabs nearly make it out with the horn, but The Dutchman catches them and heads to a roller coaster, knowing SpongeBob will be too scared to go. The sponge overcomes his fears and mounts the coaster with Mr. Krabs. It goes so high above the earth that even The Dutchman is terrified when it drops. SpongeBob blows a bubble to catch the horn, and then makes a bow and arrow bubble to pop it. The horn drops to the ground, shattering on impact. The Dutchman returns to his ghostly form, and his crew turns on him for abandoning them. He is demoted to kitchen duty while Barb takes the ship’s helm, laughing maniacally.

SpongeBob and Mr. Krabs return to Bikini Bottom back to normal, and SpongeBob thanks his boss for showing him what it means to be brave. They are joined in a group hug by everyone else at the Krusty Krab (Patrick, Sandy, Mrs. Puff, etc) until SpongeBob realizes that they forgot Squidward in The Underworld.
