In a gripping tale of survival and introspection, the story alternates between scenes featuring a tough marine and his emotional farewells. The duo must navigate the perilous desert to seek evacuation, and with a challenging four-hour journey ahead of them, they set off through hostile territory and severe environmental conditions. As their backstories unfold, we learn that Tommy is a devoted husband and father, while Mike grapples with the emotional weight of proposing to his girlfriend Jenny, played by Annabelle Wallis.

As they endure the harsh realities of the desert, fate intervenes when a sandstorm obscures their path. Tommy, ever the chatterbox, becomes the unsuspecting victim of a tragic accident after stepping on a hidden landmine. In a heart-wrenching scene, Mike struggles to comfort Tommy amidst chaos and enduring pain, eventually witnessing the devastating aftermath of Tommy’s overdose on morphine, which he administered in a moment of panic.

Despite moments of clear detachment from reality, these visions serve as a powerful catalyst for Mike to confront his fears and regrets.

Through a series of harrowing events, including battles with feral dogs and the growing urgency of rescue, Mike begins to find the strength to advocate for his own survival. It is through pivotal reflections, conversations with the Berber, and vivid hallucinations of Tommy and his father that Mike comes to terms with his emotions.
