This unforgiving space offers minimal comfort—just a bed, a bathroom, and an unappealing food dispenser that provides little more than subpar liquid sustenance, which begins to wear down their spirits as the days creep by.

What starts as excitement soon transforms into an endless cycle of monotony and despair for both Mikey and Kate. Each day drags, with only the robotic announcements and the incessant ticking of the countdown clock to break the silence, constantly reminding them of how time is slipping through their fingers. Boredom soon leads to petty arguments and the simmering tension between them escalates.

A pivotal moment arrives when Mikey’s disturbing discovery of a bug becomes a metaphor for his burgeoning desperation to escape their confines, igniting an explosive argument with Kate. In a fit of fury, she crushes the bug underfoot, which only exacerbates Mikey’s frustration. In an absurd attempt to reclaim some semblance of joy, he spends $100,000 on a simple green crayon, hoping it will boost their morale. To Kate’s disapproval, he immerses himself in a world of color, adorning their bleak environment with vibrant drawings that provide him with brief moments of happiness.

However, the introduction of a gun unexpectedly placed on the bathroom counter sends Kate spiraling into anxiety. The dispassionate reminders about its disposal fuel her fear, pushing them to hide the gun beneath the bed in a desperate bid for peace.

Their isolation is shattered when they receive unexpected recorded messages from loved ones, projected on the walls of their prison. Mikey watches as his older sister urges him to face his personal issues during their time of seclusion. Yet it is Kate who struggles more, her tears flowing uncontrollably when confronted with a message from her estranged father, a man whose past decisions have haunted her and left her with emotional scars. As they grapple with their emotional turmoil, Kate suggests they seek another distraction, leading to an even more shocking turn of events with the arrival of Simone (Ashley Greene), an alluring actress who appears before them in an unexpected state of nudity. The dynamic shifts painfully, particularly for Kate, who becomes increasingly wary of Simone, noticing her striking resemblance to Mikey’s late brother Sean’s ex-girlfriend. As the night unfolds, the three find themselves sharing a bed, the atmosphere thick with tension. In a bid to alleviate their discomfort, Kate offers them all MDMA, insisting Mikey refrain from using it. Unfortunately, this only leads to catastrophic results as Mikey’s emotional barriers crumble, resulting in a heart-wrenching outpouring of pain and a desperate desire to escape their bleak situation.

Post this emotional upheaval, Kate confesses to Simone about the tragic event that cost her brother his life, an incident where Mikey was meant to keep watch over him. Tension escalates even further when Simone suddenly disappears, leaving behind an enigmatic message on the wall that reads, “No one has ever made love to me like that before, S-XOX.” This leaves Kate in a state of paranoia, leading her to confront Mikey with accusations of infidelity, resulting in a physical altercation that leaves Mikey wounded and bleeding.

Feeling betrayed, Mikey laments Kate’s lack of trust, expressing that their intimate moments have forever altered their relationship. Determined to leave, he tells Kate he will go alone or with her. Despite her desperate pleas, he remains unmoved.
