Lucker the Necrophagous

John Lucker, a psychotic killer, falls into a coma after a botched suicide attempt during a transfer between mental facilities. He remains unconscious as he is moved from one institution to another, setting the stage for his eventual confinement in a private clinic. The sequence begins with his prolonged unconscious state before he awakens.

Lucker awakens in a private clinic and immediately murders an orderly to steal his clothes. He uses the disguise to escape, starting his violent spree. This act triggers the chain of events that follow.

After escaping the clinic, Lucker kills the orderly's girlfriend and has sex with her body in the car. He then hijacks the orderly's car to continue his flight.

The next morning a radio broadcast covers Lucker's escape and identifies Cathy Jordan as a survivor connected to his past. Cathy becomes a central figure in his pursuit as he seeks her out.

Lucker walks into town, his memories of Cathy flash back and fuel his violent impulses. His rage erupts in a brutal attack on a female jogger in a parking garage.

Using a public phonebook and map, Lucker locates Cathy's current address. He gains entry to the building by soliciting a prostitute who lives there.

Inside the apartment, Lucker shackles the prostitute to a bed and kills her. He then takes up residence in the apartment and begins spying on Cathy from a hidden vantage.

About a month later, Lucker has sex with Cathy's severely decomposed corpse and dismembers the body. He stuffs the pieces into garbage bags and prepares to dispose of them.

On the way out, Lucker encounters Cathy's boyfriend and kills him. Two women, Carolyn and Sharon, arrive to visit the prostitute, interrupting his escape.

Lucker kills Carolyn and captures Sharon, then moves toward Cathy's apartment to seize Cathy. The tension in the building escalates as other residents become involved.

Cathy frees herself from binds and stabs Lucker in the back with his own knife. The wounded killer continues to pursue Cathy through the building.

In the final chase, Cathy pushes Lucker down an elevator shaft, seemingly killing him. The descent is left ambiguous as the credits roll.

Despite the apparent fall, the film ends with a recovered Lucker leaving the building, implying he survived and remains a threat.
