Whats After the Movie presents a chilling story set in the remote, snow-covered mountains of Jotunheimen in 1976. The film begins with the eerie atmosphere surrounding the abandoned Stehøe Mountain Hotel, which is on the brink of bankruptcy due to the recent mysterious and distressing incidents linked to its surroundings. The story intensifies with the introduction of Einar, a dedicated sheriff serving the Otta sheriff’s office, who is traveling to check on his brother Jon in the woods. Early on, disturbing news about a missing boy surfaces — a child who was last seen going out to play but never returned. As the scene unfolds, it’s revealed that Gunnar, the boy’s stepfather, had kept the boy locked in the basement before he managed to escape, only to tragically fall into a ditch where Gunnar buried him alive. Einar’s visit to Jon’s house uncovers more unsettling details: Jon, who seems to live in isolation, is busy skinning a dog, and a bloody knife is suspiciously nearby. Jon, who refuses to maintain contact with civilization, staunchly dismisses any connection one might assume with the missing boy, adding layers of suspicion.

The film’s tension escalates when Sigrid, during a night at the hotel, discovers strange noises and snowy footprints. To her horror, she finds her son alive in her room — but moments later, he stabs her to death in a shocking act of violence. Gunnar, alerted by the chaos, finds her dead on the floor, only to be attacked and killed by the very boy he had buried alive, who emerges as a vengeful, deadly figure. The narrative then leaps to 12 years later, where Einar now escorts a group of young hikers into the mountains, unaware of the dark history that haunts the area.

As they approach the long-abandoned Stehøe hotel, the group, including Siri, Knut, Magne, Hedda, Anders, and Simen, explores the creepy interior, which is cloaked in dust and cobwebs. Tensions rise as they find disturbing relics, including a haunting photo of the missing boy with his parents. The group’s curiosity leads to outdoor activities and an unsettling night where Siri and Knut stumble upon a dead animal and accidentally fall into a trap created to kill animals. Siri narrowly escapes but witnesses a hooded figure take Knut’s injured body away, setting off a chain of terrifying discoveries.

Further chaos erupts as the group faces sinister encounters with the hooded hunter. Simen, armed with a military-style rifle, experiences a deadly confrontation with the figure, who turns out to be the same boy, now an adult, returned as a merciless killer. This creature begins hunting the group methodically, attacking Hedda and Magne with arrows, and relentlessly forcing them to flee through the mountain terrain. Meanwhile, Einar, diligently investigating, uncovers clues linking the area’s dark past—including reports of skinned animals and trapping pits from decades earlier, which mirror the brutal patterns of violence now emerging.

As the violence climax approaches, the survivors attempt to hide in an abandoned house. Hedda and Anders defend themselves against the predatory killer. In a heated moment of desperation, Hedda uses a fire to trap the killer, who then temporarily retreats. The rescue efforts go awry as the killer manages to injure or kill several of the group. Einar’s investigation ultimately reveals Jon’s connection to the horrors, driven by a twisted obsession, it becomes clear that Jon’s basement was the dark secret chamber for the murders, with Magne’s and Siri’s bodies discovered among the gruesome scenes.

The climax spirals into chaos at Jon’s house, where Hedda and Jon confront each other, revealing a shared past of violence. As the killer continues his rampage, set against the snowy landscape, Hedda fights to survive, risking everything to destroy the threat. The story ends with the killer returning once more to the hotel, which glows eerily with light inside, symbolizing a haunting presence that refuses to be completely eradicated.
