Ekambaram is a powerful don in Thanjavur who smuggles expensive idols and artifacts, and his longtime coworker and ally Sundaram [Bharathiraja] shares in the operation. Sundaram’s son Kathir [Vidharth] leads a very different life as a cab driver in Chennai. One day, Kathir and his parents travel to Viji’s house with a marriage proposal, hoping to unite their families. But when Viji’s father learns of Sundaram’s ties to Ekambaram, he rejects the match and openly insults Sundaram. The confrontation turns heated: Kathir slaps Viji’s father and storms out, yet he still makes a bold proposal to Viji, insisting that their future could be worth the risk.
Sindhanai [Kalki Raja] is introduced as a pickpocket who suffers from chronic insomnia. An astrologer tells him that true healing will come only when he builds a bed out of 1 Crore rupees and sleeps on it. The strange demand becomes his obsession, and Sindhanai resolves to steal a whole crore to satisfy this ritualized superstition.
Meanwhile, Kathir, back in Chennai, spots a middle‑aged man at a bus stop carrying a bag decorated with a monkey image. Sindhanai, convinced the bag contains money, steals it and bolts. Kathir gives chase and recovers the bag, but the owner isn’t around to claim it. He posts a Facebook photo of the bag in hopes of locating the rightful owner.
Later, Kathir crosses paths with Viji and follows her to the hospital where her father is admitted. He expresses remorse and offers an apology, but she rejects him harshly. Kathir leaves, but in the confusion, the bag is forgotten. That same day, Kathir encounters a woman who has his father’s phone but no SIM card inside. She explains her husband found the phone while clearing trash, and Kathir’s mother informs him that Sundaram had come to Chennai two days earlier but never returned. Kathir asks Viji to safeguard the forgotten bag, yet her father violently discards it from the hospital balcony into a trash bin.
The film then cuts back to Thanjavur a few days earlier. One of Ekambaram’s henchmen purchases the bag to help smuggle a 5 Crore idol from Thanjavur to Chennai. Ekambaram instructs Sundaram to deliver the bag to a man named Sekar [Elango Kumaravel]. Sekar, meanwhile, meets Sadhasivam, one of Sekar’s aides, who had previously encountered Sindhanai at the bus stop. Sundaram arrives at Sekar’s house and stays there, hoping Sekar will complete the deal: exchange the idol with a pawn shop and hand over the money to Sundaram.
Sekar, however, has his own plan to steal the money. He contacts Ekambaram and pretends Sundaram never showed up, implying Sundaram ran off with the idol. Worried, Ekambaram travels to Chennai. Sekar, who still has Sundaram in his home, steals Sundaram’s phone and dumps it in a trash bin. He makes his own deal with the pawn shop owner and pockets 2 Crores in advance for the idol, with the remaining 3 Crores to be paid when the idol is handed over in person. Realizing Ekambaram is on his way, Sekar decides Sundaram must be eliminated to protect his own scheme.
Threatened by the looming arrival of Ekambaram, Sekar asks Sundaram’s wife and children to leave the city for a few days. He then confronts Sundaram and asks if he can manage the money or if he needs someone to guard it. Sundaram explains their bond—he was an orphan raised by Ekambaram, and their friendship runs deep. Sekar, desperate to keep the money, knocks Sundaram unconscious and locks him away in a room in his house.
Back in Chennai, Kathir receives a call from one of Ekambaram’s henchmen who has seen the Facebook post and assumes that Kathir and Sundaram are conspiring to steal the idol. The demand is urgent: retrieve the bag within an hour and meet them at Sekar’s house. Ekambaram, now at Sekar’s place, confronts Sekar, who pretends innocence and claims Sundaram must have run away with the idol. The pawn shop worker arrives, delivering the remaining 3 Crores to Sekar. Realizing he has been double‑crossed, Ekambaram attacks Sekar, but Sekar kills Ekambaram and Ekambaram’s aide and escapes with the money.
In a tense confrontation, Kathir finds Sadhasivam and, piecing together the truth, learns that Sekar killed Sundaram and carried his remains in the bag all along. Kathir rushes to Sekar’s location and discovers the bag in a trash bin, while Sindhanai also spots the bag and moves to take it, still hoping for money. He is softened at the sight of Kathir crying over his father’s remains.
Months pass and Sekar enjoys a lavish, carefree lifestyle. Kathir confronts him at Sekar’s new apartment, recognizing him as Sundaram’s killer. Kathir binds Sekar to a chair and demands an explanation for his father’s murder. Sekar remains calculating and cruel, declaring that if it came to choosing between family and wealth, he would choose wealth—even if it meant killing his own father. He offers no real remorse.
The climax sees Kathir and Sindhanai disposing of a bloodstained suitcase into a river, signaling the end of Sekar’s era of audacious crime. The camera fades to Sekar, now a quadruple amputee who lives in regret, his life a stark contrast to the riches he once pursued. A domestic rupture is implied as his wife’s extramarital affair comes to light, underscoring the collapse of the world Sekar built on greed and violence.
Throughout this tale, the fates of many intertwined lives hinge on ambition, loyalty, and the brutal costs of crime, ending in a brutal, unambiguous reckoning.
