Kurangu Bommai

Ekambaram is a local don in Thanjavur who smuggles expensive idols and artifacts. Sundaram works as his trusted coworker and helps ferry the goods. Their operation establishes the criminal world that drives much of the plot.

Kathir, with his parents, visits Viji's house to propose. Viji's father instantly insults Sundaram, questioning their loyalty. Enraged, Kathir slaps him, but he still declares his intention to marry Viji.

Sindhanai, a pickpocket, suffers from insomnia and asks an astrologer for a cure. The astrologer tells him he can only be cured when he makes a bed out of 1 Crore rupees and sleeps on it. This prophecy drives Sindhanai to make stealing 1 Crore his lifelong goal.

Kathir waits at a Chennai bus stop and sees a man with a bag bearing a monkey image. Sindhanai steals the bag, mistaking it for money, and Kathir gives chase. He recovers the bag but the owner is nowhere to be found, so he posts a picture of the bag on Facebook to locate the owner.

Kathir meets Viji and follows her to the hospital where her father is admitted. He expresses remorse and apologizes, but Viji's father insults him in return. Kathir leaves, but in the bustle he forgets the bag.

A woman is found with Kathir’s late father's phone without a SIM card, and the husband reveals he found it while clearing trash in a Chennai neighborhood. Kathir's mother informs him that Sundaram arrived in Chennai two days ago. He asks Viji to keep the bag safe, but her father throws the bag from the hospital balcony into a trash bin.

During a flashback to Thanjavur, an Ekambaram henchman buys the bag to smuggle a 5 Crore idol to Chennai. Ekambaram orders Sundaram to deliver the bag to Chennai and hand it to a man named Sekar. On arrival, Sundaram is met by Sadhasivam, one of Sekar's aides.

Sekar plans to steal the money and asks Sundaram what kind of guard he needs. Sundaram reveals their close bond, and Sekar knocks him unconscious and locks him in a room, intending to run away with the idol and the money.

Back in Chennai, Ekambaram sends a henchman to recover the bag after a Facebook post. Sekar pretends Sundaram never arrived and keeps the idol, while a pawn shop worker hands over 3 crores to Sekar. When Ekambaram confronts Sekar, a fight ensues and Sekar kills Ekambaram and his aide before escaping with the money.

Kathir encounters Sadhasivam and learns that Sekar killed Sundaram and carried his remains in the bag. He is shocked and eventually locates the bag in a nearby trash bin. Sindhanai also spots the bag, but Kathir's tears over his father's remains stop him from acting on it.

A few months pass and Sekar enjoys a lavish lifestyle in a new apartment. Kathir arrives and, upon realizing Sekar is Sundaram's killer, attacks him and ties him to a chair to demand answers. Sekar coldly admits that wealth could come from killing even his own father, underscoring his ruthlessness.

Kathir and Sindhanai dispose of a blood-stained suitcase into a river, signaling the disposal of the remnants and a final act of closure for the case. The scene marks the culmination of the siblings' quest for justice.

The film ends with Sekar revealed as a quadruple amputee, living in regret for the wrongs he committed. A phone call reveals his wife’s extramarital affair, underscoring the collapse of his life and empire as the camera pulls back.
