In a quiet suburb of Madurai, a tale of love, power, and vengeance unfolds around two brothers whose lives diverge in the shadows of politics and loyalty. Suriyan, the elder, is a gentle, soft-spoken man who works at a local lending library and finds himself falling for Manimekalai, the daughter of Namasivayam, a formidable local politician-don and MLA. His younger twin, Chandran, serves as a mortuary assistant in a government hospital and becomes one of Namasivayam’s trusted operatives during the election season. Chandran’s heart also crosses paths with Tamizhselvi, a local girl whom Tamizhselvi(/actor/sandhya) is romantically connected to, adding another layer to the fragile web of relationships.

As the romance between Suriyan and Manimekalai blooms, Namasivayam discovers the affair and orders his men to eliminate Suriyan. The plan quickly spins out of control when the attack targets Chandran instead, forcing him to flee. The confrontation fractures the brothers’ world, setting in motion a chain of events that will push the duo toward consequences neither could anticipate.

Chandran eventually seeks Manimekalai out and asks her to forget his brother, yet her resolve is steadfast: she intends to run away with Suriyan. They slip away under the cover of night, waiting for a bus that would carry them to a new life. When the bus finally arrives and Suriyan moves toward it, tragedy strikes in a cruel, swift moment—the bus scene is interrupted by a knife strike from Namasivayam’s goons, who have learned of the elopement plan and want to end Suriyan’s influence once and for all. Manimekalai is seized, and Suriyan is fatally wounded, leaving Chandran to confront a devastating reality.

The next shock comes with the revelation that the body brought to the mortuary for burial is not Suriyan, but Chandran’s own brother. The grief and anger flare into a chilling realization: this is not just a personal loss but a public crime that demands vengeance. Enraged, Chandran rides to Namasivayam’s residence, intent on killing the man who orchestrated the scheme. A gardener intervenes, warning against rash actions, and Chandran steps back, only to seek a final confrontation later at a lodge where Namasivayam stays. The goons conduct a thorough check but ultimately permit him to ascend and plead before Namasivayam, crying that their political opponents killed his brother and that this tragedy must be avenged. Namasivayam, outwardly calm, pretends to arrange police and judicial intervention, creating a tense, morally murky standoff.

The following day brings further heartbreak: Manimekalai takes her own life, hanging herself from a ceiling fan in her bedroom, a stark act shaped by pain, loss, and the cruel calculus of a world ruled by powerful men. In the mortuary, Namasivayam pays his respects to the body he believes to be Suriyan’s, only to witness a final, shocking twist: the body inexplicably rises as Chandran’s, turning the tables in a moment of supernatural-like inevitability. Chandran uses this moment to strike back, killing Namasivayam and two of his goons, a grim fulfillment of vengeance for Suriyan’s life and Manimekalai’s death. Tamizhselvi plays a crucial role in the climactic moments by shutting the mortuary doors and keeping out the remaining assailants, a small act of solidarity amid overwhelming chaos as the crowd of women present fights the attackers away.

In the aftermath, the law catches up with the surviving players: Chandran and Tamizhselvi are arrested by the police, their fates entwined with the brutalities of politics and romance that defined this tragedy. The story remains framed by the stark tension between personal loyalties and the corrupt machinery of power, leaving a lasting impression of how one misstep can unravel a family, a romance, and a community.
