The film begins in 1796, four years after the East India Company occupied Malabar and during the final stages of the First Pazhassi Revolt. This period highlights the unrest caused by the exploitative policies of the British, leading to widespread resistance among native Indians. The backdrop sets the stage for Pazhassi Raja's rebellion against the colonial forces.

As the East India Company increases its pressure, Pazhassi Raja is forced to flee to the dense forests of Wayanad to continue his fight. His departure marks the start of guerrilla warfare, with the Raja rallying support among local tribes and allies to resist the colonial rule. His strategic retreat becomes a crucial turning point in the revolt.

In the jungle, Pazhassi Raja's tribal forces capture Assistant Collector Thomas Baber and his fiancée Dora. Showing magnanimity, the Raja treats them as guests and releases them, emphasizing his respect for human life and his refusal to fully align with the British measures against him. This act strengthens his image as a noble and just leader.

Pazhassi Raja initiates guerrilla tactics against the East India Company, utilizing the expertise of his trusted generals like Edachena Kunkan, Kaitheri Ambu, and the Kurichya soldier Thalakkal Chandu. These tactics involve hit-and-run attacks designed to weaken the colonial forces and rally support among local populations.

The guerrilla campaign inflicts significant losses on the British, leading them to seek a peace treaty with Pazhassi Raja. The Raja hopes the treaty will bring peace, but the colonizers betray their promises, violating the conditions shortly after. This betrayal sours the relationship and invigorates the fight.

Enraged by the betrayal, Pazhassi Raja resumes his rebellion and gains support from local rulers like Unni Mootha and various powerful families. His renewed resistance garners more tribal support and sustains the fight against the overpowering colonial forces.

The East India Company employs heavily armed troops to suppress Pazhassi Raja and his followers, leading to several tribal leaders defecting or being captured. The conflict intensifies as the colonial forces attempt to break the tribal guerrilla network.

Thalakkal Chandu, Pazhassi Raja's trusted soldier, is lured and captured by the colonial forces, leading to his execution by hanging. His death marks a significant loss for the resistance and demonstrates the brutal measures taken by the British to quell the revolt.

In a fierce encounter, Edachena Kunkan kills Chandhu, Pazhassi Raja’s ally. Subsequently, Edachena Kunkan is surrounded by the British and chooses to commit suicide rather than surrender, showcasing the tragic end of key resistance figures.

Despite knowing his impending death, Pazhassi Raja leads his forces in a final, heroic fight. He is ultimately killed by the colonial forces after a prolonged battle, symbolizing the end of the revolt and his resistance against colonial oppression.

The film concludes with Thomas Baber placing Pazhassi Raja’s body in a litter, acknowledging his greatness despite being an enemy. Baber’s words and the colonial officers' salute honor Pazhassi Raja’s valor and integrity, highlighting his legacy as a great warrior.
