Ittymaani: Made In China

Ittymaani is born in China and spends his early years there until age 10 before moving to India. He grows up around his grandfather's knockoff business and later runs a Chinese restaurant and a catering service in his hometown. He also handles money transactions, taking commissions, even for his mother's gallstone treatment.

After moving to India, Ittymaani settles in Kunnamkulam and builds a life around his enterprises. He runs a Chinese restaurant and catering service and owns an ambulance, with Sugunan as his loyal driver. His family business remains tied to knockoffs started by his grandfather in China.

Ittymaani takes on a contract to build a church bell and becomes a member of the church committee. He balances his various ventures while remaining active in parish life. This positions him at the center of both community and controversy.

An arranged marriage is fixed with Jessy, a doctor in London, through matchmaker Paulinos. When Paulinos asks for brokerage, Ittymaani demands a commission, triggering a heated quarrel and leading to him ditching Jessy.

Paulinos spreads fabricated anecdotes to Joji that Ittymaani mocked and emasculated him, turning Joji against Ittymaani. The rift between Ittymaani and Joji deepens as the wedding falls apart.

During the farewell function for the old priest, the new bell is inaugurated but breaks and falls, leaving the priest unconscious. Ittymaani is rebuked for a counterfeit bell and is dismissed from the church committee.

Sugunan uncovers that their employee supplied the faulty bell after taking a bribe from Joji. The corruption surrounding the project comes to light, complicating Ittymaani's standing.

The new priest is John (Joppan), whom Ittymaani recalls from an alcohol rehabilitation center. They strike a deal to not reveal Joppan's past in exchange for Ittymaani's reinstatement to the church committee.

Annamma, their neighbor, lives alone and is estranged from her children. She invites them home to commemorate their father’s death anniversary and asks for visits during Christmas, which Ittymaani helps arrange.

Annamma is hospitalised after a cardiac arrest, and her children refuse to cancel their holiday plans. They later discover that Annamma has secretly married Ittymaani, triggering a fierce family confrontation at home.

The parish condemns Ittymaani and Annamma as news of the marriage spreads. Ittymaani privately reveals to Joppan that the marriage was staged with Theyyama’s knowledge to regain affection.

Annamma can dispose of her assets freely, prompting the children to offer money to make Ittymaani leave. Ittymaani refuses unless she wants him to go, and the siblings plot to win her over through affection to force his departure.

With an attorney in tow, they attempt to dissolve the marriage. Ittymaani and Annamma stage a drama claiming they are expecting a child to deter the dissolution. A fight ensues, Annamma’s heart condition worsens, and she is hospitalised; since they are not legally married, Ittymaani cannot sign the consent forms.

Knowing the marriage was staged for their sake, the family members feel remorse and begin to rebuild trust. Annamma recovers and reunites with her children, and Ittymaani finally marries Jessy and reconciles with Joji, sealing a more hopeful future.

In a final note of goodwill, it is revealed that Ittymaani had been donating the commissions he earned to an old age home. The film closes with a sense of restored family ties and a more ethical path forward.
