Prince Steinar embarks on a dangerous journey along with loyal warriors, including Hagen, Grim, and Jokul. Their mission is pivotal, as they race against time to reinforce their king before it is too late.

Upon reaching his father, Steinar is met with devastation; the Viking army has been vanquished, and Bagsecg lies gravely injured. This somber moment sets the tone for the challenges that Steinar must now face.

Desiring the crown, Steinar finds his ambitions thwarted when Bagsecg reveals his wish for Hakan, his firstborn son, to reclaim leadership. Bagsecg's doubts about Steinar's fitness for rule complicate their relationship.
