A hard-edged urban thriller follows a relentless fighter as he navigates a brutal underground circuit in Los Angeles. The film features performances by Susumu Terajima as Hee-bom Park, Takeshi Kitano as Joon-pyong Kim, and Joe Odagiri as Takeshi Park.

Bone, a skilled martial artist and former marine with a checkered past, arrives in a city where shadowy rings and secret deals govern the sport. He quickly scouts the lay of the land and strikes a pragmatic arrangement with a sharp promoter named Pinball: enter the underground fights and earn a share—20% upfront, rising to 40% if Pinball bets on the line himself. It’s a world of risk and reward, where one clean victory can turn a life around or plunge it deeper into danger. Bone’s first win comes with striking efficiency—two decisive kicks that leave his opponent staggered and the crowd buzzing.

As nights pile on top of nights, Bone grinds his way through contenders, padding his earnings and tightening his grip on the ring. In tandem with his growing cash flow, he forms a fragile bond with Tamara and her young adopted son Jared, offering a glimmer of warmth amid the rough edges of his new life. After dethroning Hammerman, the reigning undefeated champion, Bone’s combat prowess becomes a bargaining chip in a larger, more sinister game. The circuit is controlled not just by gambling crowds but by a black market arms dealer, Franklin McVeigh, who runs the international underground with a ruthless efficiency—and James, a ruthless mob boss, wants Bone to step into the ring against Pretty Boy Price, the current king of this violent arena.

In a moment of honesty, Bone reveals to Angela Soto, a figure connected to James’s world, that Danny—an inmate he once knew as a cellmate and friend—was murdered in prison. Angela confesses a painful past of her own: after Danny’s imprisonment, she gave birth to a son and later lost custody, never knowing if her child survived. Bone promises to help reunite Angela with her son, then quietly shields her by sending her to a drug rehab clinic when she shows signs of relapse. The stakes grow higher as James moves to cement a fight that could set everything in motion, threatening the lives of Angela, Tamara, Jared, and Pinball itself.

The plan reaches a fever pitch when James presents McVeigh with a hard-dollar offer—US$5 million—to sanction the fight between Bone and Price. Bone, realizing the gravity of the risk and the potential harm to those he’s come to care about, secretly records James’s confession about Danny’s murder and transmits the incriminating video to Pinball’s phone. The move destabilizes James’s hold on the underground world, and Bone proceeds to the clash with Price, tapping out at a tense moment to deny James the satisfaction of an easy victory. Yet the confrontation is far from over: James lunges with brutal intent, and McVeigh’s bodyguard O’Hara intervenes by throwing Bone a jian, evening the odds momentarily. In a final testament to his resolve, Bone overpowers James with the sheath and escapes as law enforcement closes in on the crime lord.

The aftermath unfolds with a quiet, hard-won resolution. Angela is reunited with the son she feared lost, and Bone, carrying the weight of what he’s done and what he’s chosen to protect, leaves Tamara with an envelope full of cash to help fund Angela’s rehabilitation in the future. He also parts ways with Pinball, signaling that his path now lies beyond the immediate dangers of the ring and into a more personal reckoning—one where he must attend to the consequences of the choices he’s made and the lives he’s touched along the way.
