Ironclad: Battle for Blood

Five long years have passed since the tumultuous events of Ironclad, leaving the de Vesci family in a precarious situation as they face relentless attacks from Scottish raiders along the dangerous English-Scottish border. The patriarch, Gilbert, weary and injured, finds himself powerless to fend off the rising tide of violence, while his son Hubert battles to maintain some semblance of order amid the chaos. When a brutal assault results in the death of the chieftain’s son, a fierce blood feud ignites, threatening to engulf the entire region in turmoil.

In a desperate attempt to save his family, Gilbert sends Hubert to enlist the help of Guy de Lusignan, a once-great warrior known for his bravery and resolute spirit. However, Hubert is unaware that the man he seeks has undergone a significant transformation since their last encounter at Rochester. Driven by the cruelty of fate, Guy has become a cynical mercenary, more focused on profit than on the ideals of honor or justice.

The de Vesci family suffers severe losses as the siege continues; ultimately, Gilbert succumbs to his injuries, passing his leadership to Hubert. Grief overwhelms Joan, his distraught wife, leading her to take her own life through poison, believing that hope has slipped away completely.

In the midst of this chaos, Mary seeks vengeance against Pierrepoint for his brutal past, and as the Scottish forces unleash fire and fury, the castle’s gates crumble under their might. Tragedy strikes when Berenger faces the chieftain in a duel and meets an untimely end at the hands of raiders.

In the climax of this relentless battle, Hubert entrusts his sisters to Guy’s protection before making a final stand alongside Mary, who has now taken her place as lady of the castle. As the brutal Scots inflict their toll (with no mercy shown to Mary, who faces a tragic end), Guy seizes the opportunity to reclaim his honor and ancestral legacy. In an act of bold chivalry, he issues a daring challenge to the leader of the Scots, demanding a one-on-one duel. The unexpected support from Blanche bolsters his resolve, leading Guy to a hard-fought victory against the Scottish chief.

With the leader fallen, the Scottish clan’s fury dissipates, prompting them to retreat back into the hills.
