Get Married

Mae is a tomboy who resists traditional feminine expectations and longs for independence. She navigates the balance between pursuing her own goals and satisfying her parents’ concerns about marriage. Her bravery shows in joining the wedding fight, and her decision to marry Rendy signals a shift from social pressure to personal choice.

Rendy is tall, handsome, wealthy, and well educated, a man who falls in love with Mae at first sight. He faces pressure from his mother to marry quickly and prove his worth, but his growing affection for Mae drives him to defend their budding relationship. Their union culminates after a chaotic contest and a public confrontation.

Eman is Mae’s friend who is color blind, which leads to comic and misinterpreted signals. He, along with Beni and Guntoro, misreads the situation and, along with others, accosts Rendy and pummels him. This moment highlights loyalty to friends and the chaos that can arise from a simple misunderstanding.

Guntoro is one of Mae’s friends who is initially chosen as the groom in the competition. He and Eman fall ill, removing him from the running and allowing Beni to be chosen instead; his illness adds to the comic and chaotic mood of the wedding build-up.

Beni is Mae’s other friend who steps in as the groom after Guntoro falls ill. He participates in the fight and the wedding process, standing with Mae and Rendy as their relationship runs its course and eventually leads to marriage.

Maemunah is Mae’s mother who fears Mae’s lack of traditional femininity and independence. She becomes ill and even threatens to haunt Mae as a ghost, which accelerates Mae’s decision to marry quickly.
