Gautham, Harish Kalyan, a software engineer, proposes to his colleague and girlfriend Meera, Ivana, on their second anniversary, and she says yes. Both families, including Gautham’s widowed mother Leela, Nadhiya, come together to finalize the alliance, but Meera soon realizes that he expects her to move in with Leela after the wedding, which leads her to call off the engagement. After the initial fallout, Meera and Gautham find a path back to each other, with a crucial condition: she wants a big, blended-family trip to Coorg so that both sides can bond, and if things still don’t click, they’ll part as friends. Gautham agrees, but he ends up lying about the nature of the trip to his mother, telling her it’s an “office trip” with colleagues, and he ropes in his best friend Vijay, Mirchi Vijay, to join.
From the start, Leela is uneasy about mixing Meera’s family with theirs, even as Gautham tries to smooth things over by presenting Meera as a mere colleague on the trip. As frictions rise, Meera discovers the truth about the trip and the ruse that kept the families in the dark. The deception creates a rift, and Meera and Leela decide to send the rest of the families back home so they can spend time alone and figure out whether they can truly mesh. The plan shifts to a Goa retreat, a change from Coorg that Meera had proposed, and the days there are filled with shared adventures, conversations, and small, meaningful moments that let Meera see Leela’s tenderness and resolve, and for Leela to see Meera’s warmth and resolve as well. By the time the trip ends, Leela’s guard softens enough for her to approve the marriage, but with one condition that reframes the future: the three of them should undertake another trip together to cement their bond before they fully say yes.
But fate steps in on the way back toward Coorg. While traveling through a forest route, Gautham, Meera, and Leela find themselves lost, and a dangerous tiger trap leads to a tense confrontation with smugglers who shove them into a van alongside a real tiger. In the ensuing struggle, the women press each other to confront their fears and their pasts. Meera learns of Leela’s asthma and the immense burden Leela carried as a single mother who raised Gautham after her army officer husband died in the line of duty. Leela also unveils her deeper motive for pushing the marriage: a longing to fulfill her own desires and to visit temples, and she admits that her push for marriage was partly to free herself from Gautham’s dependence. She also acknowledges Meera’s desire for a life that might include a separation after marriage, if that’s what works best for everyone. The confession is a turning point, and it helps Meera reframe her understanding of Leela’s sacrifices and ambitions.
Meanwhile, Gautham and Vijay are racing against time to locate them. With the help of a local forest officer, they track down the smugglers’ van and manage to rescue Meera, Leela, and the tiger, ending the ordeal with everyone safe. Returning home, the trio sits down with renewed honesty and mutual respect, and Meera affirms her decision to marry Gautham. Leela, feeling a sense of relief and growth, agrees to the marriage under one shared understanding: the three of them will embark on another journey together to deepen their connection and ensure they can navigate life as a united, supportive trio. The story closes on a note of cautious optimism, with two families learning to blend their hopes, boundaries, and dreams into a future that honors both Meera’s need for togetherness and Leela’s enduring love for Gautham.
