Mr. Braithwaite attends a thrilling sparring competition in Hong Kong, where the renowned martial artist Lee faces a much larger opponent, Sammo Kam-Bo Hung. Lee showcases his incredible skill by performing a breathtaking flip over a line of monks, impressing the audience and securing his victory.

After his victory, Lee takes time to mentor a young student, emphasizing the importance of harmony and control in martial arts. He teaches the boy that true strength is not found in anger or ego, but in respect and discipline, demonstrating the respectful act of bowing.

Mr. Braithwaite shares an invitation extended to Lee for a grand martial arts tournament hosted on a remote island by the enigmatic Han, who is rumored to be involved in illegal activities. Although initially hesitant, Lee ultimately decides to accept the invitation to infiltrate the tournament and uncover the truth.

Before leaving, Lee visits the wise Old Man at his Shaolin temple, who reveals the tragic fate of Lee's sister, Su Lin. The Old Man recounts how Su Lin bravely fought against Han's henchmen, ultimately taking her own life to escape their brutality, igniting a deep desire for revenge within Lee.

As Lee prepares for his mission, he is joined by two companions: Roper, a charming playboy evading mobsters, and Williams, who has recently escaped a troubled past. During their boat trip to Han's island, they engage in playful wagers involving a praying mantis fight, strengthening their bond.

Upon reaching the island, the trio is welcomed by a vibrant atmosphere filled with martial arts enthusiasts training on exquisite courts. That night, Han hosts a lavish banquet, showcasing mesmerizing performances, while Roper develops a romantic interest in Tania, one of Han's attendants.

During the banquet, Lee encounters Mei Ling, a spy also sent by Braithwaite. Mei Ling informs Lee about the alarming disappearances of young women on the island, raising Lee's suspicions about Han's true intentions and operations on the island.

Lee's investigations reveal Han's deeply sinister underground heroin operations, showcasing the extent of Han's criminal activities. This discovery heightens the tension as Lee realizes the gravity of the situation he has willingly stepped into on the island.

Amid the escalating tension of the tournament, both Lee and Roper secure victories in their initial matches. However, Han's ruthless methods surface as he punishes fighters brutally for any perceived disobedience, demonstrating his tyrannical control.

The competition takes a dire turn when Williams is confronted by Han, resulting in a brutal display of violence. Han fatally beats Williams, leaving Roper horrified and further embroiled in Han's malevolent schemes.

In an explosive showdown, Lee faces Bolo, Han's most formidable fighter, pushing the limits of his martial arts skills. After defeating Bolo, Lee confronts Han, who engages him with a menacing clawed hand, leading to a tense battle of wits and strategy.

The climactic duel between Lee and Han takes place among mirrors, complicating the fight for both opponents. Lee's agility and strategic mind ultimately grant him the upper hand, culminating in a decisive defeat for Han.

Following the intense confrontation, Roper begins to recover from the chaos of the tournament while reflecting on the transformations each character undertook. The film closes with a haunting image of Han's claw lodged in a table, symbolizing the struggles faced on the island.
