Through the lush, mountainous forests of Japan, a ninja clad in white is pursued by a squad of maroon-clad ninjas and a ninja dressed in black. In a shocking turn, the white ninja engages in combat, swiftly dispatching his pursuers before entering a compound. Inside, he confronts Master Komori, beheading him before kneeling at a podium. As he removes his mask, his true identity as a Caucasian is revealed, just as the maroon and black ninjas re-enter the room, seemingly unscathed. Master Komori, holding a clay model of his own head, demands Cole (Franco Nero) to recite the sacred nine levels of power. Upon confirming Cole’s mastery, he presents him with a scroll listing all the ninjutsu fighters who came before him. However, Hasegawa, the ninja in black, openly questions Cole’s newly acquired title.

The following day, Cole expresses his gratitude to Master Komori and departs for Manila, Philippines. Upon his arrival, he encounters an Englishwoman (Susan George) who threatens him with a rifle. Cole quickly subdues her, and she turns out to be the wife of his war veteran friend, Frank Landers (Alex Courtney). During their dinner, Cole apologizes to Mary Ann, Frank’s wife, for an earlier confrontation. As they discuss their circumstances, Frank reveals the pressure he faces to sell his land, which he and Mary Ann are determined to keep.

The next morning, Cole accompanies Mary Ann to town, where he witnesses a hook-handed German known as the Hook (Zachi Noy) intimidating a shop owner over a late payment. On their way back, they stumble upon a violent altercation where Mary Ann’s plantation workers are being attacked. Cole employs his martial arts skills to drive off the menacing assailants, although this leads to the workers resigning out of fear for their safety. Mary Ann reveals that Frank has turned to alcohol due to the escalating threats against their plantation, yet she remains steadfast in her refusal to leave.

On the subsequent morning, Cole and Frank find Mary Ann at a local bar, conducting interviews for new workers. Suddenly, the Hook instigates a fight with Cole, who fearlessly dispatches the Hook’s henchmen and leaves a lasting message by driving the hook into a wall. Meanwhile, the Hook has an ominous meeting with Charles Venarius (Christopher George), an oil tycoon set on acquiring the Landers’ estate. Venarius recruits ten robust Manila dockworkers to thwart Cole’s interference and instructs his bodyguard, Mr. Parker, to gather intel about Cole.

While spectating a polo match, Cole is haunted by memories of his time as a soldier in Africa, during which Frank saved him from a barrage of enemy fire. Back at the plantation, Frank holds a cockfight for his former workers, but the Hook arrives, tormenting one of the workers by tying him to his truck and dragging him. Cole intervenes and strips the Hook of his artificial limb. In a turn of events, Venarius dismisses the Hook for his failure and enlists Mr. Parker to pursue the Landers’ property.

Receiving an unsigned note for a clandestine meeting, Frank hides his concerns while Cole uncovers the meeting’s location through force. When they arrive, Cole takes on the guards as Frank engages with Mr. Parker, who offers a life-changing sum for their land. Refusing the offer, the duo manages to escape without capitulating.

That night, a romantic spark ignites between Mary Ann and Cole as they share an intimate moment. The next day, Mr. Parker informs Venarius about Cole’s ninja capabilities, emphasizing that he can only be defeated by a fighter of equal skill. Thus, Venarius sends Parker to Japan to recruit Hasegawa.

As tension mounts in Manila, Cole deduces that he is being monitored and takes action against his pursuers. Hasegawa arrives with Mr. Parker, while Cole and his ally Dollars launch a surprise attack on the henchmen guarding the property. They uncover documents revealing the immense oil potential of the Landers’ land, along with footage of Hasegawa in combat.

Tragically, during dinner at the Landers’ house, a bullet crashes through a lantern, prompting Mary Ann to retrieve her rifle. In a horrifying turn, Hasegawa ties Mary Ann to a tree and takes Frank’s life. The subsequent fire he conjures consumes the workers’ quarters, leaving Cole heartbroken upon discovering Frank’s bloodied body.

Driven by grief and vengeance, Cole adorns his white ninja attire and stealthily infiltrates Venarius’ stronghold. Captured by Mr. Parker, he is brought to an arena to face Venarius. Parker deceitfully tells Venarius that Cole has threatened his life unless Mary Ann is released. However, Cole’s resourcefulness allows him to escape, rapidly dispatching guards in his path.

As chaos unfolds, Mr. Parker threatens Mary Ann, prompting Cole to intervene—shooting Parker with an arrow and holding a knife to his throat. Amid the chaos, Hasegawa seizes Mary Ann, while Venarius fatally wounds Mr. Parker. Cole swiftly avenges his friend by plunging a throwing star into Venarius’ chest. He then confronts Hasegawa, in a fateful showdown that culminates in the death of the black ninja—who, as he lies dying, concedes to Cole’s victory. In an act of respect, Cole grants Hasegawa’s final request for an honorable death.

With a promise to return, Cole departs the Landers’ estate, leaving Mary Ann, who resolves to stay in Manila to honor Frank’s memory. At the airport, Cole and Dollars cross paths with the Hook, now relegated to a porter. Cole explains the core tenet of the ninja philosophy—that they only kill in self-defense—before bidding his friend farewell.
