Devara Part 1

In 1996, a high-level security meeting takes place to discuss the potential threats to the upcoming Cricket World Cup in India. Security officials express concerns about the activities of Daya and his brother, Yethi, who have been implicated in planned disruptions.

The police successfully capture a henchman belonging to Yethi and decide to interrogate him for crucial information. Through intense questioning, they discover that Yethi intended to meet with Muruga, a politician involved in smuggling.

After learning about Muruga's demise, the police must adapt their strategy to gather intelligence. They decide to go undercover as smugglers to infiltrate the operations in a more effective manner.

In pursuit of their undercover mission, the officers seek guidance from DSP Tulasi, who directs them to the Red Sea villages in the Ratnagiri mountains. They aim to uncover the workings of the smuggling ring operating there.

Upon reaching the village, the officers confront Bhaira, the chief, demanding he smuggle goods for them. However, Bhaira fiercely rejects their threats, setting the stage for escalating conflict.

While at sea, an officer attempts to bribe Singappa with a diamond ring. As the ring is tossed into the water, the officer dives in and discovers a graveyard of skeletons, foreshadowing the darker elements of the smuggling operations.

Singappa begins recounting a tale from 12 years prior, shedding light on the history of the villagers. Once noble warriors, they have been reduced to mere smugglers in the post-Independence era, embroiled in illegal activities.

Devara, a village chieftain, undergoes a transformation and decides to cease all smuggling activities. This decision is met with hostility from other chieftains, particularly Bhaira, who plot to assassinate him.

After surviving several assassination attempts, Devara goes into hiding, leaving a final warning on a rock that he will kill anyone who continues smuggling. His disappearance marks a significant shift in the villagers' lives.

In the years that follow, the villagers abandon smuggling and adopt fishing as their primary livelihood. Devara’s presence remains a shadow, as his actions continue to influence the community's choices.

As time passes, Devara's son, Vara, grows up feeling abandoned and disconnected from his father's legacy. He is timid and soft-spoken, much to the disappointment of his childhood friend, Thangam, who wishes he embodied his father's strength.

Bhaira begins to mobilize a private army with the intent to eliminate Devara, who remains a significant threat to his smuggling operations. He secretly collaborates with other smugglers to plan their next moves.

After Bhaira's men threaten Devara's family, Vara finally shows his strength by confronting them. However, the confrontation escalates, and he's wrongfully accused of murder, pulling him deeper into Bhaira's world.

Under pressure to prove his innocence, Vara reluctantly agrees to join Bhaira’s smuggling operation. Bhaira's manipulations lead Vara down a dangerous path, culminating in a plot to kill his own father.

As the undercover officers investigate, Singappa reveals that Devara was killed by Vara, who has been masquerading as his father to maintain fear within the community. This shocking twist unveils a complex web of deceit and legacy.
