Inspector Deva Ambre, portrayed by Shahid Kapoor, is a dedicated officer of the Mumbai Police who faces a life-altering event after a serious bike accident, which leaves him with partial memory loss. Just before the incident, he was on a call with his brother-in-law, DCP Farhan Khan, sharing a breakthrough in the murder case of their close friend, ACP Rohan D’Silva. Rohan had been killed during a gallantry awards ceremony, and as Deva was about to reveal the name of the murderer, the unfortunate accident occurred.

In the wake of rumors spreading that Deva had perished in the crash, the mobsters of Mumbai took to the streets in celebration, unaware that Deva had survived. Once Deva was hospitalized, he encountered Farhan, who informed him of his memory loss and recounted Deva’s tumultuous past. Deva was not just a brilliant officer but also a deeply complicated individual struggling with emotional turmoil stemming from the loss of his father, who was also a police officer killed in the line of duty. This loss had led to a lifetime of resentment and anger towards the world, compounded by the tragedy surrounding Rohan’s demise.

Farhan also detailed his current pursuit of a gangster named Prabhat Jadhav, who had evaded prison and was suspected to be hiding somewhere in Mumbai. Meanwhile, Diya Sathaye, a journalist and the daughter of a Constable, sought to uncover the truth surrounding the embroiled police department. Amidst the chaos, Rohan was in a relationship with Rebecca and faced scorn from Minister Jairaj Apte at a check-post when he insisted on checking the minister’s vehicle.

Deva witnessed this confrontation and later took Rohan to Apte’s residence, where he retaliated against Apte’s goons and embarrassed him during a birthday celebration—an act of passion fueled by a sense of justice. In the meantime, Diya penned a piece comparing Deva and Farhan to mob bosses, leading to a confrontation with Deva, who implored her to refrain from tainting Farhan’s reputation as an honest officer.

As the story unfolds, tragedy strikes when Rohan is murdered by a sniper while receiving an award, a shocking event witnessed by Deva. Determined to find justice for his friend, Deva reclaims the investigation despite his memory issues, speculating family betrayals as a possible motive. The police are tight-lipped about the events surrounding Rohan’s death. Deva even confronts gang members, putting his life on the line to extract information.

The narrative develops as Deva discovers that a green SUV linked to the crime belonged to Apte. In a public rally, he once again faces the minister in a bid to uncover the truth. With an intricate blend of emotional depth, Deva struggles internally as hints of his past are revealed, notably, a disturbing realization of having been a mole within the police, working for Prabhat—a fact that complicates his efforts to seek the truth.

As Deva navigates the chaotic aftermath of the case, he encounters multiple setbacks but remains undeterred. His interactions with Rebecca unveil crucial insights into Rohan’s final days, leading him to reassess past decisions. With the help of a sharpshooter’s expertise, he learns that the sniper’s shooting position was less optimal than originally believed, casting further doubt on the official investigation.

Eventually, after uncovering the truth, Deva grapples with the chilling revelation that he was responsible for Rohan’s death—a result of miscommunication and a tense moment of anger that spiraled into violence. Heartbreaking and bittersweet, the story culminates with Deva confessing to DCP Farhan, who surprises him with the revelation that he was aware of Deva’s role even before the accident due to a prior confession.

Six months later, we find Deva in a prison cell, hinting at a return to memory and possibly the return of his volatile nature in a moment of unrest, leaving viewers with a poignant reflection on the muddled lines of morality, friendship, and justice.
