His inquiries into the family’s dark events lead to grotesque discoveries, including the gruesome decapitation of a poacher named Simon on the estate. In a bid to uncover more secrets, Dr. Caleb drains the pond, unveiling a disturbing shrine engraved with the poignant words, “Forgive Me, Kathleen.” That fateful night, Lady Haloran is abruptly attacked by a shadowy figure, but in a narrow escape, she collapses in the castle’s courtyard, deep in fear.
