Bushwick

Lucy and Jose exit a subway train into an empty Bushwick station just as a man runs in on fire. Jose tries to investigate but is killed in an explosion, throwing Lucy into chaos.

Lucy is chased by two men and takes refuge in a house owned by Stupe, a former Navy corpsman. Stupe swiftly neutralizes the threat by killing the men.

Stupe explains martial law and that he intends to reach Hoboken to find his family. Lucy chooses to join him, deciding to help rescue her grandmother.

Stupe injures during the escape and begins training Lucy in first aid and shooting. They press on through the collapsing city toward Hoboken.

They arrive at Lucy's grandmother's house and discover she has died of heart failure. The group flees to Belinda's house, Lucy's sister, to seek shelter.

A mercenary breaks in at Belinda's house, where Stupe subdues him and extracts information. The mercenary reveals that the NAC plans to seize defenseless neighborhoods in major cities.

The mercenary's information leads them to the DMZ in Queens at Grover Cleveland Park, where the U.S. Army is extracting non-combatants. Stupe knocks out the mercenary and the trio heads toward the park.

Along the route, citizen uprisings erupt in the streets. James and his mother take Belinda hostage and force Stupe and Lucy to form a resistance at a local church.

At the laundromat rally point, the church's priest, who would lead the resistance, dies by suicide and the group resolves to fight instead. Stupe reveals that his family died in the September 11 attacks and that he nearly abandoned Lucy, but is glad they stayed together.

A frightened teenage girl hiding in the laundromat's restroom shoots and kills Stupe. Lucy and Belinda react with horror as the resistance continues without him.

The evacuees reach the DMZ, where the U.S. Army is battling mercenaries. The resistance fights its way to the rescue helicopters.

Belinda is shot in the leg; Lucy tries to save her but is shot and killed. Belinda and the remaining fighters carry on in horror as the scene lingers on the chaos.

With Lucy dead, Belinda and the evacuees continue their assault despite the gunfire and disruption around them. The shot ends with New York City burning in the distance.

The final image shows New York City burning, signaling the collapse of order as survivors move through the chaos. The scene closes with the city’s fate hanging in the balance.
